FollowingtheMassmembersforegatheredinoneof theconventschoolrooms fortheannualbreakfast. Theofficialvisitorfromthe DiocesanUnionwasMr. GilbertHandcock,whowas extendedacordialwelcome bythebranchpresident,Mr. P.Ryan.

FatherKeanegavehishearersafullaccountofthis devotionfromitsestablishmentinChicagothroughitsphenomenalspreadthrough-outtheUnitedStatesand othercountriesandexplain- editslatestinaugurationin ourownArchdioceseasa PerpetualNovenaatOsbornePark.

Thepriests'choirrendered theliturgicalchantunder itscloseshortlyaftermidnightonthefeast theconductorshipofFather ofSt.VincentdePaulwhenthepuresoulof McCudden. Rev.MotherPrioressand SisterMaryofSt.FintanGillwingedits communityexpresstheir flighttoitsCreatorattheconventofthe deepappreciationtoHis GracetheArchbishop,the clergy,themembersofthe ReligiousOrders(among whomweretheMother General,MotherProvincial ofAustralia,andMother VisitoroftheNotreDame desMissions)fortheirattendanceattheMassand graveside. Theyespeciallythanktheir devotedDoctorQuinlan, forhiskindnesstotheir lovedsister.Theyalsowish tothankMotherM.PhilomenaofSt.JohnofGod hospitalwho,overaperiod ofyears,hasbeensowatchfulofSister'shealthMay herdearsoulrestinpeace.

ShemadeherProfession attheprovincialmonastery ofAbbotsford,Victoria,in 1905andjoinedthethen youngcommunityatLeedervileinMay,1906.Under successivesuperiorsshe provedherselfaloyal generousaideandhergreat loveforcommunitylifeand foreverySisterwhocompriseditmadeheralways toeachanaccessibleand thoughtfulfriendwhose placewillnoteasilybe filled.

Giftedwithanartistic mindhertalentinregardto themakingofvestments andchurchnecessariesfound widescopeinhelpingto beautifymanyofGod's sanctuaries.Throughmany usefulyears,inspiteofdelicatehealth,shetrainedthe girlsconfidedtohercharge inthemakingoffinelace whileraisingtheirthoughts tothehighersphereofmore lastingloveliness.

Theillnesswhichcaused herdeathmanifesteditself earlyintheyearandSister's lastfewmonthshadbeen spentintheinfirmary.But AlmightyGodhadgreat consolationsinstoreforher duringthisperiodofsuffering.Hermarriedsister (whomshehadnotmetfor 50years)togetherwithher niece,camefromNewZealandtovisither;andafter theyhadgoneherbrother, theRev.W.Gill,C.Ss.R. arrivedandforafortnight wasabletosayMassinthe infirmarywhere,untilhis coming,Sisterhadhadthat sameprivilege,thankstothe kindpermissionofHisGrace theArchbishopandthe goodnessoftheRedemptoristFathersSisterwasalso abletoreceiveHolyCommunioneverydayuntilthe dayofherdeathandthe visitsofmanyfriendsamong theclergycomfortedand upheldher.

Despitetheinferenceof thisquestion.mysteriesof faithdonotcontradictreason.Theworldisfullof naturalmysteries.Toname butafew,therearethemysteryofelectricity,themysteryoftheuniverse'sextent, andthemysteryoflifeA mysteryisnotsomethingunusual,ratheritistheusual.

Inadditiontothesemysteriesofnaturethereare maneotherthingsthat mightbecalled"everyday mysteries"inthelifeofthe individual.Forexample, theexistenceofNewYork isamysterytoapersonwho hasnevervisitedthatcity'. Yetsuchapersonaccepts thefactoftherealityof NewYorkonthetestimony ofthosepersonswhohave visitedNewYork.Ifwe stoptothingamoment,we shallrealisethatthemajor partofourknowledgeisacceptedontheauthorityof someoneelseNoprogress wouldbepossibleinscience orartunlessamanstarted onthedatagatheredbyhis predecessors.Wehaveto acceptthetestimonyofreliablewitnesseswhenwedo nothavethetimeortheintellectualabilitytodoper- sonalresearch.Accordingly everypersonacceptsthe factsofthese"everydaymysteries"thatcropupin thelifeoftheordinaryindividualastrue.Thisbeliefisbasedonhuman authority.
