InthethreePontificalsocieties1951sawanincrease of£17,448.In1950thesocietiesjustbarelyreacheda grossof£100,000;in1951 itwas£120,404.Moreover itwasasteadyandwidespreadgrowth.
Foroncealmostevery dioceseoftheCommonwealthshowedanincrease anditwasnotpermedium oflargebequests.Bequests sellawayby£4,000during 1951.
ThePropagationofthe Faith,themainmission society,showedamarked advancein1951:In1950revenuefromallsourcestotalled£73,409;in1951itrose to£85,606,anincreaseof £12,196.
Thepleasantreadingof largegainsandincreasesis thendisturbedbytheanalysiswhichfollows.The percapitacontributionincludingrevenuefromall sourceswas18.6d.per person.Itispointedout thatthisisnotevenamembershipatthelowestrate.
Later,dealingwithmemberships,thereportpoints putthatonly54.2%ofthe adultpopulationarememberscalculatedonthelowestrate;whilstifallowanceismadeforthehigher formsofmembershipjust 37%aremembers.

'TheSocietyofSt.Peter Apostletoassisttheworkof traininganativeclergyalso featuredanincreaseof £1,899but1951wasnot itshighestyearonrecord. Underthebursesystem whichbrokedownduring thewaryearsitflourished considerably.Thismaybe revived.

Thesecondportionofthe meetingwasengagedupon thedistributionofallocationstomissionaryworks withinAustralia.Not enoughisunderstoodabout thispartofthePropagation oftheFaithinAustralia.Of courseitwillberememberedthatintheveryearly daystheChurchinAustraliawasbuiltbythePropagationoftheFaithfunds fromRome. AsAustraliabecamemore settledthegrantsdwindled andgrewlessinnumber. In1919,followingtheupsetsofWorldWarI,there wasasmallscalemigration plan.ItcreatednewproblemsfortheChurchinAustralia.Ratherthanapprove ofmultiplefundstheCon-
gregationofPropaganda suggestedthatportionofthe AustralianPropagationof theFaithfundsbeusedfor thispurpose.
Itwasalsoaddedthat insteadofthemissionary diocesesdrawinghelpfrom Rometheytoocouldbe helpedfromthisportion. FromthenceonwardsAustraliahasretainedthisone third.Untiljustafewyears agoitwastheonlycountry oftheworldwherethisconcessionheld.In1945New Zealandreceivedthesame favourfortheMaorimissionsandmissionworks withinthedominion.
TheAustralianonethird isallocatedbyaCommittee ofAustralianBishopsaccordingtothevaryingneeds ofthemissionaryworks. Withinthelifetimeofthe

In1921shewassentout asapioneertothenewlyopenedconventatDardanup.Duringhertermthere sheshowedsignsofthatcapacityforhardworkand unswervingfidelitytodutywhichwerethehighlightsof hercharacter.Shealso servedforatimeinBridgetown,GreenbushesandDonnybrook,respectively.

Itwoulddoimmense good,stemmingthedrift fromtheFaith,whichgenerallybeganmorally,by helpingtheyoungstudents tobridgethegapbetweenthesupervisedstudyof theirschooldays,andthe freedomtoplantheirown daywithintheuniversity.
DuringtheweektheMonsignormetmanyoftheparishionersintheirhomes. Severalsocialevenings werearrangedtogiveCatholicmenanopportunity tomeetthedistinguished visitor.
