However,asetofpapyrusfragments,theremainsofacomplete Bible,wasdiscoveredinEgypt. Thesefragmentshavebeenassignedbyalltheauthoritiesto thethirdcentury.However, evenapartfromthislatestevidenceoftheearlyoriginofthe Gospels,Harnack,writingears!: thiscentury,placedthedatesof theGospelsasfollows:St.Matthew,70AD.;St.Mark,65A.D., St.Luke,67A.D.,andSt.John, 95A.D.Theconclusiontobe drawnisthattheGospelswere writteninthegenerationwhich sawtheeventsnarrated. Thenextstepistoprovethat thestorytheytellistrueand notafabricationoftheauthors. Again,thewritersnotonlyrepresentedChristandthemselves inapoorlight,theywentfurther andevenbroughtpersecution uponthemselves.Now,ifthey weretryingtoperpetratea fraud,surelyitwouldhavebeen forsomepersonalgain.Inthe courseofevents,theywereall calledupontogivetheirlivesfor whattheypreached.Finally, theGospelsspreadandwontheir wayeverywhere.Enemiesand criticstherewerewhocould haveandwouldhaverefutedthe Gospelstoryhaditbeenfalse.
