Theconsensusofworthwhileopinion inAmericaisthatthemanoeuVreof theSovietGovernmenttowinapproval intheUnitedStatesofitsPolishpolicy Lack-fired.Insteadofpromotinga morefavourableattitude, especially amongcitizensofPolishextraction,it hasdirectedattentiontotheapparent effortsoftheRussianGovernmentto pavethewayforsettingupaPolish regimeinconformitywithitsplansfor establishingaWesternpoliticalfront, and, incidentally, stressedtheimportanceofPolandasthepivotintheline ofbufferStatesbetweenCentralEuropeandRussiaproper.
