PersecutionofJewryClaimedtoBeLinked WithAttacksonReligiousFundamentals

To-day,whenHitlerhasvowedtheexterminationofJewry,andhis armiesareeverywherecruellyexecutinghisplan,Jewstheworldover areunitedinaperiodoffastandsupplication.Catholicswillsympathisewiththispersecutedpeople,rememberingtheirowntribulations andalsothewordsofPopePiusXLandPopePiusXII.onthesinof anti-Semitism.Thewriterofthisarticle,Mr.WalterZander,isapractisingJew,wholeftGermanyin1937.

Therearefewproblemsmorecomplicatedbycontradictoryfactsandthe passionsoffriendandfoethanthe Jewishquestion;andyetfewproblems needamorecarefulstudyandabalancedjudgment.

AsthingshavedevelopedtheJewish questionactuallyhasbecomeoneof theissuesofthewar.NotonlybecauseHitlerhasvowedtheexterminationofJewry-andeverywherewhere theGermanarmieshaveconqueredhe iscruellyexecutinghisplan-butalso forspiritualreasons.ForthepersecutionsoftheJewshavebeenindissolublyconnectedwithanattackon thefundamentalprinciplesofreligion; andMartinBorman,thesuccessorof HessasleaderoftheNaziparty,has onlyrecentlyjustifiedthepersecution oftheChurcheswithremarkablebluntnessbytheveryfactthat"theteachingsofChristianityintheiressential pointshavebeentakeoverfromJudaism."

StrangersEverywhere.

Theissue,therefore,goesfarbeyond theJewishquestionitself;andwhen in1933theNazisdemandedtheabolitionoftheOldTestament,Cardinal FaulhaberralliedtheCatholicpopulationofMunichbyaseriesofsermonsunderthemotto:"VerilyIsay untoyou,tillheavenandearthpass, onejotoronetittleshallinnowise passfromthelaw."

Tojudgefairlythepoliticaland spiritualforceswhichhavedominated Jewryinrecentyearsonemustkeep inmindthattheJewshavebeenwanderingovertheearthforcenturies,and evento-dayfindthemselvesinamost abnormalconditionofgreatdispersion.

CARDINALFAULHABERresistedtheNaziattempttoabolish theOldTestament

Itisdifficulttoimaginewhata moraleffortisneededtoleadone'slife withoutafatherland,basedonlyon theprinciplesoftheSpirit,beinga strangereverywhereandwithoutthe benevolentinfluencewhichthehuman heartderivesfromanagdonguninterruptedtraditioninone'sownoatinery.

Tofindawayoutofthissituation modernJewryhasdevelopednearly

everywhere,withfullestmoraland -ipiritualdedication,twofundamental conceptions.

HopeofaHaven.

OnegroupaimsatthefullintegrationoftheJewsinthenationsamongst whichtheylive.Maintainingonly theirreligion,theyendeavourtoassimilatethemselvestothesurroundingpeoplesandtomergeinthem.This movement,whichhasbeenparticularly stronginCentralEuropeandthe Westernworld,beganabout150years

Asapoliticalmovementitstarted attheendofthenineteenthcentury andithasalwaysbeenparticularly strongintheeasternpastofEurope.

Thehopeoftakingupagainthe severedthreadsofJewishhistory,of

AspirationsofIsraelAssimilationists,Zionistand "BetweentheLoyalties"

ago.whenthewaft-oftheghettoswere torndownduringtheperiodofenlightenment.

Onemustremembertherestrictions underwhichtheJewshadliveduptill then-theirstratificationevento-day reflectstoacertainextenttheiragelongexclusionfromagricultureand handicraftinmanycountries-inorder tounderstandtheintensitywithwhich theythrewthemselvesintoWestern civilisation;andmanyofthemhave outstandingcontributionstoitsfurther development.

Butmoreessentialthanthisextensionofactivitieswasthehopetofind atlastbyintegrationahavenafter theirwanderingandpersecution.The bestamongthemlongedtoundertake themoralresponsibilitiesoftheircitizenship.Manyexcelledinsocialserviceandtensofthousandsfull-heartedlvgavetheirlifefightingassoldiers fortheirrespectivefatherlands.

Theothergroup,whilstmaintaining loyaltytothecountriesoftheirdomicile,aimsatafinalreunionofthe Jewishpeople-whollyoratleastpartially-inPalestine.

rebuildingtheirnationandofeducate ingtheirchildrenundernormalconditions,ofendingtheunnaturalstratificationbyreturntoanormallifeand ofrevivingfordailyuseHebrew,the holylanguage,gaveinspirationto many;andwheninthelastwarthe BalfourDeclarationproclaimedtheen tablishanentofaJewishNational HomeinPalestine,agreatimmigrationbegantowardstheHolyLand.

LifeasGodMeant

Duringthetwentyyearsbetweenthe twoworldwarsfundamentalchanges havetakenplacethere.TheJewish population,whichin1918amountedto 55,000,increasedtoabout500,000,out ofwhich100,000liveonthelandin variousagriculturalsettlements.

Agriculturehasbeenwidelydeveloped;landwhichhadbeenunarablefor centurieshasbeendrained,andimportantindustrieshavebeenfounded.TelAviv,alargetownwithanentirely Jewishpopulationof170,000,hasbeen builtup,andontheMountScopes aboveJesusalemaHebrewUniversity hasbeenopened.

tobeatsomedefiniteperiod,andat whateverperioditoccurred,itwould beequallyastonishing.Secondly, whilstwelittlecreaturesareconditionedbyspaceandtime,Godisnot. Eternityembracesthewholeoftime. Scripturetellsusthat,withGod,"a thousandyearsarebutasaday." Thereisnosuchthingasalongtime, orashorttimewithHim.Thirdly, wetendtobe"individualists,"and thinkofthehumanraceas"individuals"Butallindividualsmakeup acollectivehumanity.Andifwe thinkofthesolidarityofhumanityin itscorporatecapacityasonespecies, werealisethattheworkofChrist couldoccurequallywellatanystagein thelifeofhumanitysofarasitsapplicationisconcerned,itsfruitsbeing appliedbyanticipationbeforeHiscomingaswellasbysubsequentapplication.Fourthly,itwasfittingthatthe fullknowledgeofHisworkshouldbe manifestedonlygraduallytothehumanrace,partlyasapenaltyforits sinfulness,partlythatmenmightlearn fromcollectiveexperiencetheirneed ofitAllthesepointscouldbeamplified,huttimedoesnotpermit lengthiertreatment.

Q.:Shouldwe,asChristians,haveany difficultyinbelievingthesefacts?

R.:Nomerespeculationsaboutpossibilitiesorprobabilitiescanavail againstfacts.Itisafactthatmillionsofindividualslivedbeforethe comingofChrist.Itisafactthat ChristcamewhenHedid,andsubstantiatedHisclaimstobetheSon ofGod,sentbyHisEternalFatherto accomplishtheredemptionofsinful humanity.Itwouldbeabsurdto denythesefactsbecauseofresidual difficultieswhichstaggertheimagination,andtorefusetobelievewhatwe knowtobetruebecausewecannot expecttobeablefullytounderstand. Failuretocomprehendeveryaspectof theIncarnationdoesnotprovethat theIncarnationdidnottakeplace.It onlyprovesourfailuretocomprehend everyaspectofthatevent;whichis notintheleastsurprising.Thesurprisingthingwouldbethatthelimitedhumanmindshouldexperienceno difficultyincomprehendingeverything.

CONFUSIONOFNATURAL RELIGION.

Q.:Whateverargumenttheremaybe about"pronunciationofwords"and "grammaticalphrasingofsentences," thereshouldbenoargumentabout the"alphabet."

R.Wronglyregarding"naturalreligion"asthesourceofallreligiousdevelopmentsasthelettersofthealphabetareusedinallwordsandsentences, youthinktoavoidreligiousdifferences byabandoningallformsofChristianityinfavourofnaturalreligion.There youimaginethatunitywillbefound. Butyoufailtoadverttothefactthat thereisfargreaterdiversityofopinionamongstadvocatesofnaturalreligionthanamongstthosewhoprofess Christianity.Naturalreligioncertainlycannotprovideunity.Amongst advocatesofnaturalreligionthereare religiousagnostics,pantheists,alltypes ofliberals,positivists,unitarians,pragmatists,andanunendingvarietyof would-bereligiousphilosophies.Even wereittruethat"naturalreligion"is the"alphabet,-thereisplentyofar. gumentaboutthat"alphabet."And allthisdiversitygoestoshowthe radicalneedofanabsoluteandinfallibleauthorityinmattersofreligion ifmanistoattaincer Styliar, authorityexists.Itisthatofthe CatholicChurch.Thosewhorefuse tohesubjecttoherwillfindthemselvessubjecttoendlesserrors,doubts, anduncertainty.

RIthinkmyanswertothathas beenmadeclear.Owingtothefact thatsomanyinthiscountry,largely asaresultofawholegenerationof seculareducation,professnoreligion; andsomanymoreprofessoneorother oftheformsofProtestantism,separatedfromtheCatholicChurchand amongstthemselves,theStateschools cannotofficiallyteachanyformofreligion.Apartfromthat,noprofessingChristiancouldagreetotheteachingofamerelynaturalreligionwhich ignorestheverynameofChrist. ChrististheEternalSonofGodwho cameintothisworldasLightintothe darkness.Andmenwillbejudged bytheattitudetheytakeuptowards Him.ItwouldbetreasontoGodand treacherytomantoagreetotheteachingofanyreligionwhichignoresthat fact.Moreover,ofwhatpracticaluse wouldmerelynaturalreligionbein theestimateofaChristianwhoisever awareofthewordsofChrist,"WithoutMeyoucandonothing"?Catholics atleastwillinsistonteachingthefull CatholictruthrevealedbyGodtotheir

ownchildrenintheirCatholicschools, andasbesttheycantosuchCatholic childrenasarecompelledtoattend Stateschoolsowingtotheabsenceof aCatholicschoolintheirdistrictFor therest,theycannotactivelysupport theproposaltoteachanysubstitute religiontoanybodyanywhere.IfnonCatholicsdesiretoteachtheirown formsofreligiontotheirownchildren, letthemdosointheirownreligious schools,ortotheirownchildrenin Stateschoolsinthetimeallottedby thecurriculumforthatpurpose.But theStateitselfcannotofficiallyadopt andteachanyoneformofreligionin schoolswhichchildrenofalltypesof religionattend.Nowthatconcludes mytreatmentofyourletter,andIhope atleastthattheCatholicpositionhas beenmadeclear.

moditieswhichrankhighabove humanlivesinthepresentscaleof values.

AndyetthisInfantSaviourcame fortheredemptionandpeaceofall menwithoutexception.

TheChristianloveofpeaceisnot pacifism.Thereisnodenyingthe factthatundercertainconditionswar ispermissibleandevennecessary.But thereisnodenyingthefactthatitis anevilthing.Itisthekindofthing thatisbroachedinhellandcarriesin itswakesin,suffering,disease,poverty andmourning.AndthisChristmasthe carolsandthechimescannotdrown outtheclanginghoofbeatsofthedark Horsemanashegallopsacrossour landwithhisthreegrimcompanions.

Catholicsmustdotheirdutyascitizens,astheyhavealwaysdone;they mustfightandsacrificeanddieinde fenceoftheircountry.ButCathol:cs canneverforgettherealitythatour GodisaGodofloveWhohasgiven usthelawtoloveourneighboursas ourselves.Thecriesofhateheardin theworldto-daycannotsupersedeHis words:"AnewcommandmentIgive you,thatyouloveoneanother:that asIhavelovedyou,youalsoloveone another."Theworldhasgmetemad faitwecannotforgetthespiriiwhich isours.

Quotedinthe"InternationalReview ofMissions,"Dr.TasukuHaradadescribesthetaskaheadoftheChristian ChurchinJapan."SinceChristianityassimilatedGreekthoughtandconqueredRomancivilisationithasnever facedatasksostupendousasthatof theconquestoftheOrient.Japan, withallherprogressintheartsand craftsofcivilisation,andallherfriendlinesstowardsChristianethicalstandards,isfarfrombeingaChristiannation;indeed,sheisinsomerespects moreanti-Christianthanatanytime sincetheplacardsproscribingthe "EvilSect"wereremovedin1873. Intheforty-secondyearoftheempireofOctavianAugustus,whenthe wholeearthwasatpeace,inthesixth ageoftheworld,JesusChrist,eternal God,andSonoftheeternalFather, desiroustosanctifytheworldbyHis mostmercifulcoming,havingbeen conceivedoftheHolyGhost,andnine monthshavingelapsedsinceHisconception,isborninBethlehemofJuda, havingbecomemanoftheVirgin Mary.

ThusdoestheRomanMartyrology inaugustlanguagerecountyearby yearthegoodtidingsofthebirthof Christ,longagoinBethlehem.This year,ofallyearssincethiscoming, wearestruckbythewords:whenthe wholeearthwasatpeace.Now,in theyearofOurLord,onethousand. ninehundredandforty-two,wepreparetocelebratethatNativitywhen thewholeearthisatwar.

Christmasnightwillcome,thestars willwheelintheirancientcourses,the samestarsthatlookeddownonthe Judeanhills.Therewillbethat samehallowedatmosphereofexpectancy,ofholypeace.Childhoodassociationswillthronginourhearts.The bellswillring,thefrosts'nightwillretothestepsofpeoplehurrying toMidnightMass.Oldeyesand youngeyeswilllookwithjoyonthe imageoftheInfantSaviourlyingon strawinthecrib.Therewillbe children'spartiesaroundtheChristmas tree.Theireyeswillshinewithexcitement:theywillwearpapercaps andblowtrumpetsandcrowandgurgleovergaudyandglisteningtoys and,lookingonwithworriedhearts andbewilderedminds,theolderpeoplewillwonderwhatthefutureholds fortheseyoungsterswhoaretooexcitedandtoohappytobealarmedat theominousvoiceoftheradioannouncer:"Weinterruptthisprogrammetobringyouthelatestbulletinfrom-"

Itisnoexaggerationtosay7that beyondanydoubttheChristmasseasonof1942findsthisworldsubmerged intheworstconflagrationofwarand hatredsincethatsilentandholy nightwhentheKingofPeacewas bornoftheVirginMary,andangel choirssang:"GlorytoGodinthe highest,andonearth,peaceamong menofgoodwill."

InthisyearofOurLord,thewords soundalmostlikeamockery.

Nationisrangedagainstnation, raceagainstrace,andalltheworld's brains,wealth,industryandsealare mobilisedinatremendouscampaign ofdestructionandannihilation.With unionandco-operationandsacrifice, unknowninthedaysofpeace,men arestrainingeveryresourcetoblast outthelivesandwreckthehomesof theirfellowmen.Oil,rubberand steel,ships,planesandtanksarecorn-

modifieswhichrankhighabove humanlivesinthepresentscaleof values.

AndyetthisInfantSaviourcame fortheredemptionandpeaceofall menwithoutexception.

TheChristianloveofpeaceisnot pacifism.Thereisnodenyingthe factthatundercertainconditionswar ispermissibleandevennecessary.But thereisno-denyingthefactthatitis anevilthing.Itisthekindofthing thatisbroachedinhellandcarriesin itswakesin,suffering,disease,poverty andmourning.AndthisChristmasthe carolsandthechimescannotdrown outtheclanginghoofbeatsofthedark Horsemanashegallopsacrossour landwithhisthreegrimcompanions.

Catholicsmustdotheirdutyascitizens,astheyhavealwaysdone;they mustfightandsacrificeanddieinde fenceoftheircountry.ButCathollcs canneverforgettherealitythatour GodisaGodofloveWhohaseven usthelawtoloveourneighboursas ourselves.Thecriesofhateheardin theworldto-daycannotsupersedeHis words:"AnewcommandmentIgive you,thatyouloveoneanother:that asIhavelovedyou,youalsoloveone another."Theworldhasgrewmad butwecannotfcrgetthesp:e:1which isours.

Christ.OurKing,isstilltheKing ()f "MyPeaceIleavewith you,MypeaceIgivetoyou."Peace (niearthisstilltheWillofGod.And asCatholicswemustpray,aswehave neverprayedbefore,thatGodmay notdesertusandthathismercywill onceagaindeliverusfromevil.Talk andhooksandsermonsandallhuman endeavourarealmostfutilenow.The timehascomewhenprayer,directto thethroneofGod,isouronlyhope. Itistimeforfamiliestoturnoffthe radio,putasidethenewspapersand kneeldowntogetherandsaytheRosary.ItistimetothrongthechurchesandpleadwithGodforareturn topeace.Thesearetheonlyweapons withwhichwecanfightthepowersof darknesswhichnowthreaten.

OnthefirstChristmasnightthere wasnothingmorehelplessorfrailthan theInfantshiveringinthearmsofHis VirginMother.YetHewastoconquertheworld.ThisChristmasnight thespiritofChristiscastoutand neglected.Theclankofarmsand armories,thestridentpropaganda voiceofhatredagainstmen,therising clamourofwar'srumoursandtheroar ofdeadlyplanesandthetrampof marchingmenriseabovetheangel voices.ButthepowerofChristand theprayersofHischildrenhavestilled thepassionsofmenbeforethis,and thepeaceofChristhasreignedafter theroarofbattleandtheclashofarms havediedaway.

OnthisChristmas,whenthewhole earthisatwar,mayHecomeagain toHiswearyandagonisedpeopleand inHisDivinepowerrestore"peaceon earthamongmenofgoodwill."

TheadvocacyofCo-operationisan integralpartofthepolicyofthe N.C.R.M.Itisimpossibleinthecompassofanarticleofthislengthtoexaminealltheaspectsofthispolicy. Thereisnolimittothenumberof formsofCo-operationwhichtheRural Movementadvocates.Co-operationin therealmofproduction,intherealm ofmarketing,inthematterofinsurance,consumers'co-operation,co-operativecreditthroughthechannelof CreditUnionswhichonedaymayfederateintoanationalco-operativebank -thesearetheavenueswhichareopenedupbythepolicyoftheN.C.R.M., andwhichprovideafertilefieldofactionfortheeffortsofRuralGroupsfor yearstocome.

TheadvantagesofCo-operationare self-evident.Properlyconducted,a co-operativeenterprisecangivetothe participants,eachofwhomindividuallymayenjoyverylittlecapital,all theeconomicpowerofacapitalistenterprise.Dividedandincompetition witheachothertenindividualseach willenjoythestrengthofone.United inaproperlyconductedco-operative enterpriseonemanenjoysthestrength often.

Financiallyspeaking,oneofthe greatobjectivesofRural('o-operation istheeliminationoftheincubusof themiddlemanwhichweighssoheavily ontheshouldersoftheruralcommunityandhascomeeventothreatenit withextinction.

TheidealofCo-operationhasreceivedhighpraisefromtheAmericanBishopsinthe"ManifestoonRuralLife," amostcomprehensivedescriptionof theobjectivesoftheofficialCatholic RuralLifeConferencewhichisattachedtotheN.C.W.C.Itisnottoomuch tosaythattheBishopswhocomprise theconsultativebodyoftheRuralLife ConferenceexpectCo-operationtobe theagencythroughwhichwewillachievethetransformationofsocietyenvisagedintheSocialEncyclicals.Addedconfirmationofthisviewistobe foundinthelettersenttotheBishop ofAntigonishbythepresentPontiff whenhewasCardinalSecretaryof State.

ThecruxofthewholeproblemofCooperationisspiritual.Therearemany materialdifficultiesinthewayofthe successfulworkingofCo-operativeenterprise,butallofthesemayheovercomebymenofaverageability.The Australiancountry-sideisstrewnwith thewreckofbankruptco-operativesco-operativeswhichhaveneverbeen co-operativesbutsimplyjoint-stock companiesindisguise,co-operatives whichhavedisguisedthemachinationsofdishonestmen,untilanalmostinvinciblesuspicionhasgrown inthemindsoffarmersagainstthe veryname.

Fundamentally,however,asidefrom actualdishonesty,therehasbeenone causeforthefailureofCo-operationin Australia.Secularistenthusiastsfor itsideasspeakofthelackofthe"cooperativespirit."TheChristianknows thatthisisnomorethanasecularised nameforthatvirtuewhichisasold

DastheSermonontheMount,thegreat andall-pervadingcharitywhichwas preachedbyChristastheonlyChristianwayoflife.

Nothinghasbeensodegradedby modernmenasthename"charity." Atitsbestithascometomeanonly alms-giving,whichisnomorethan onesmallpartofit.Itisastrange andrevolutionaryconceptforthefarmertorealisethatthevirtueofcharity appliestohisrelations,businessand social;thatbysharingthesecretof somenewmethodwhichhehasdiscoveredwithhisfellow-farmer,heis displayingthisspirit;thatbykeeping ittohimself,heisdisplayingtheopposite.Howmanyhaverealisedthedutieswhichcharityimposesinhelping othersinthedistricttoobtainastart ontheland,evenwhenthefarmer wholendsthehelpinghandsucceeded byhisownunaidedefforts?

OnthesuccessoftheMovementin givingthisparticularspiritualformationtotheruralcommunitydepends thesuccessofitspolicyofCo-opera. tion.Wearestakingalluponthis spiritualtransformation,fortherevolutionwhichisouraimcannotheaccomplishedwithoutit.Thereisa materialargumentforCo-operation.It isthematerialargumentonwhichis basedthetremendousCo-operative WholesaleSocietyinEngland,withits millionsofmembersanditsmillionsof poundswhicharereturnedannuallyin rebates.Butitisthelimitationof thematerialargumentwhichhaslimitedtheachievementsoftheC.W.S.far belowtheresultswhichwereanticipatedbyitspioneers.Fortheyenvisagednotonlyfinancialbenefitsbut socialplaceandstability,andthese objectivesclearlyhaveremaineduntouchedbyCo-operationwhichisbasedonmaterialistpremises.

ItisprovedsufficientlybytheexperienceofothercountriesthatCooperationwillneverproduceacompletesocialtransformation,unlessCooperationitselfissimplytheoutward manifestationofanintensecharity permeatingthespiritofasociety.The scientificterminologyinwhichtheliteratureofCo-operationaboundshasno substituteinwordslike"theco-operativespirit,"forthephrasewhichis foundinthemostsacredbooksof Christianity:"Seehowtheyloveone another."

"Seehowtheyloveoneanother.ThespiritoftheearlyChristianssummedupinthosewordshaditsvisible expressioninthecompletenessofthe materialco-operationwhichtheyexhibitedtowardseachotherintheir every-daydealings.Theconceptthat thevirtueof"charity"hasanypracticalrelevancetotheordinaryeverydayrelationsbetweenmenislong deadinthesecularworld.Itisuselesstorepineoverthis.Sufficeitto saythatthegreatobjectiveofthe NC.R.M.,theonlythingwhichgives ameaningtothetemporalelementsof itspolicy,theonlymeansbywhich thetemporalaspectsofthepolicycan berealisedandrescuedfrommere Utopianism,isthe"actualisation"of Christiancharityineverydaylife.

Thereareliterallythousandsofways inwhichthepracticeofChristiancharitycantransformeveryaspectof rurallife.TheideaofChristiancharitymustbeappreciatediftheveryexistenceoftheRuralMovementis tobejustified.Alreadythecriticism hasbeenlevelledbyoneortwoindividualsamongthe"successfulfarmers"thattheMovementaimsat"molly-

coddling"inefficientfarmers."Icame herehumpingmybluey,Imadegood bymyownefforts.WhyshouldI helpalotoffailures.Ihadtobattle againstharderdifficultiesthanthey did."Thereisnomaterialanswerto thisargument.Butthereisananswerintheobligationimposedby Christiancharity.

HisGracetookadvantage,hesaid,of theopportunityofwelcomingmembers ofthatgloriouslayapostolate,which wasdoingsuchgoodworkamongstus. AllroadsledtoRobertsonParkon SundayNovember22,whentheAssociationconducteditscombinedtennis day.Twelvecourtswereinuseand overonehundredmemberstookpart. Thereare,ontheotherhand,Jewish groupswho,unnoticedbytheworld; liveuptoveryhighreligioustradi-I' tions.Where,asinCentralandEasternEurope,theyhavebecomethevictimsofbrutalpersecution,theyhave revivedthetraditionsofthemartyrs, endeavouringtotransformtheirsufferingintoaspiritualvictoryanditmay wellbethattheyintheirhumiliation andsufferingaremakingaparticular contributiontotherebirthofthe world.

Ouraimisalwaystoblendinharmoniousproportiontheintellectual trainingoftheboyswiththeirphysicalandmoraldevelopmentonthe Sportsfield.Insupportofthis statementIampleasedtoreportthat theboyswhohaveplayedaprominent partinsporthavealsoidentifiedthemselvesmostcreditablyonthelistsas publishedintheLeavingCertificate andJuniorCertificateExaminations.

ThisyeartheHeadmastersofthe PublicSchools'Associationdecided thatthepresentationofCupsforthe respectiveinter-schoolcompetitionsbe waivedasideforthepresent.This decisionwasreachedwhenGuildford GrammarSchoolwasforcedtoevacuatetoPinjara.Thisarrangement willremaininforceuntilsuchtime asGuildfordGrammarSchoolcanparticipateasformerly.
