theprogrammewhichwassubmitted bythestudentsoftheChristianBrothers'CollegeattheKalgoorlieTown HallonThursdaynightinthepresenceofalargeaudiencewasofconspicuousmerit.Themusic,thedialogue,andthegymnasticswereallcal culatedtoraisethehousetoaloud pitchofenthusiasm.ThegeneralverdktwasthatthepupilsoftheCollege hadacquittedthemselvesadmirably, andthattheentertainmentwasupto thestandardofpreviousyears.The successoftheperformancewasenhancedbyanorchestrawhosememberskeptthingsmovingduringthe gymnasticandotherdisplays,andcontributedVolti'sselectionsofthe"Gems ofIreland"asanoverture,and"HumoursofDonwybrook"asanentr'acte.
Thepianoforteaccompanimentsforthe soloworkwereplayedbyMissN.de Mamiel,L.T.C.L.ThemusicaldirectorwasMr.W.H.Simpson,uponwhom therealburdenoftheentertainmentas awholerested.TheCollegeChoirdid evenbetterthanformeryears.Lingers "Australia"andGeibel's"TheOarsmen"weredelightfullyrendered.The choralpiece's,"GoWhereGloryWaits Thee"(Moore),and"TheYoungBrigade"(Jude)weregiveninanadmirablemanner.Thegymnasticportion oftheprogrammewasmostacceptable.theproficiencyofthepupilsin everydepartmentreflectingcreditupon Mr.W.H.Simpson,theinstructor.and Mr.O'Malley,hiscoadjutor.Allthe displayswereenhancedbyskilfulmanipulationoftheelectriclights,each presentationbeingaveritablestage picture."ThePlumeDrill,"thehorizontalbarwork,thewands,thedumbbelldrill,thefreegymnastics(embracingparallelbarsandtheformationof humanpyramids)andtheIndian clubsfurnishedaseriesofexhibitions whichcouldnotfailtoappealtothe tasteofallloversofphysicalexercise.
