Hewasfortunateenoughtobejustin timetodissuadetheeccleciasticalauthoritiesherefrompublishingadocumentcondemningthewholeIrish movement,initsSinnFeinform;particularattentionwastobedirectedto theshootingsofEnglishsoldiersand policemen,andsuchincidentswereto bedenouncedascontrarytotheFifth Commandment.Thevaliantprelate lostnotimeingettingintoimmediate touchwiththeresponsibleauthorities here.Luckilytherewaspresentin Romeaboutthesametimeonewho haslongbeenafriendofIreland,the BishopofSouthwark.
