Rightroundtheworldwhereverthe GadforegatheredontheirNational FeastDay,theshadowoftheIrish tragedyobtrudeditself.Itwas onlynaturalthatitshould,forexile hasnotrobondIrelandofherexile's love,ithasintensifiedthatloveand madeit,ifanythingatall,more spiritual,strong,andwistfulbecauseclarifiedbydistanceandfond memories.ThedreamofIreland freeisnomere,passingphantomto theIrishwhetherintheOldLand iginthemanylandswheredestiny hastransplantedthem.Itisaliving,passionate,throbbinghopethat willnotbedownedbyvariationsor vicissitudesinthestormandstruggleathome.OnSt.Patrick'sDay athomeandabroad,thesentiment andfaithoftheiace,clustering roundtheshamrockandtheimmortalgreenemptiestheirrichtributes totheOldMotherland,renewing againtheirvowsofdevotionand love.AndsoitistheeternalIrish causegoesonuninterruptedbyperseentionortemporarydefeat,and willgoon.untilthatGod'sdayin thefuturewhenthisdreamcomes trueandIrelandagainisanation grentandgrand.
