theyweretohaveholidays,whichmet withunusualapplause.TheDelegate, withArchbishopClune,visitedthe Convent,whichwelcomedhimwitha "CeadMilleFailthe"streameracross thegable,afterwardsadjouringtothe presbyteryforafewminu'es.Onreturningtotheschoolhewasaccorded aspiritedsend-offbythepeopleassembled,andthepartyproceededto SouthPerth. SOUTHPERTHVISITED. OnreachingtheJosephiteConvent Schoolathalf-pasteleven,hisExcellencyandpartyweremetbymanyof theparishioners,wholinedtheentrancetotheChurch-School.Onentering,thedistinguishedvisitorwas greetedwith"FaithofOurFathers," sungbythechildreninfinestyle,after whichFatherR.Pacewelcomedthe Delegatetotheparishonbehalfofthe people,Sisters,andchildren.Father Pacedescribedhisparishasthe "Baby"oneofthemetropolitanarea, becauseitwastheyoungestandthe smallest.Itwasneverthelessaswarm andloyalasanyotherinwelcoming hisExcellency.MissMurielRichardsonspoketheaddressofwelcometo theDelegate.Inhisreply,hisExcellencythanked theSistersandchildrenforthewarm sentimentsofloveandrespectexpressedforhimastherepresentative oftheSupremePontiff.Hesaidit wasapitythatwecouldnotalways beaschildren,pureandinnocent.He exhortedthechildrentoliveand growupaslittlechildren,invirtue andFaith. Thewholeofthechildrenwerethen movedupoppositetheverandah.from whichhisExcellencyaddressedthem,congratulatingthemontheirgooddisplay,andofferedthemwordsofcheer andencouragement.Hecomplimentedtheorchestraontheircapablerenditionofthemusic,andsubsequently requestedthegirlstogiveanother item.Continuinghisaddresstothe children,theDelegatetrustedthat theywouldliveuptotheteachingthe Sistersgavethemintheirschools,and exhortedthemtopraythattheymay learntolovetheFaithandtheir teachers;toprayfortheHolyFather, whomherepresented,andtoprayfor himself.Amidstconsiderablejuvenileexcitementatthementionofholidays.hisExcellencyinhisownhumorousmanner,interrogatedthemasto whattheywanted.andwhenhe"at

Hurrah"severaltimesshoutedbya scoreoftheFoundlings,whowereon theextremeendoftheverandah, greetedtheDelegate,whohavingmomentarilygoneamongstthemthoroughlyenjoyedthesurprise.Ashis Excellencypassedthroughthevariouswards,exerciseyards,anddormitories,hewasvisiblystruckbythe completenessandexcellenceofthe provisionmadefortheaccommodation ofthelittleonesandthegeneralequipmentoftheinstitution.Havingtraversedthewholebuilding,theDelegatewaspleasedtobeabletostate thathehadnohesitatim:.nsaying thatnotonlyhadhenotseenanything betterthanSt.Vincent'sinAustralia, butinallhistravelshehadnotvisitedanyinstitutionofthelikewhich wasbetterequippedormorecomplete, andhayingtheseadvantages,itwas consequentlybetterabletodischarge thefunctionswhichdevolveduponit. HisExcellency'sfavourableremarks wereatributetotheSistersofMercy, underwhosecontrolArchbishopClune placedtheinstitutionin1914.AnadjournmentwasmadetoSt.Joseph's Orphanage,

ingimparted,andhecomplimented thenunsontheexerciseofsomuch skillandpatience.TheentertainmentwassimilartothosehewaswitnessedintheLoretoschoolsinthe EasternStates.HecouldalwayscomplimenttheNunsfortheirself-sacrificingeffortsintheworkofChristianeducation.Theywereneverself-seekers forpatronageorpraise;theykeptin thebackground.Hereturnedthanks forthesplendidsentimentscontained intheaddress,whichassuredhimof theloyaltytotheSupremePontiff, andheadmiredthemannerinwhich itwasinscribedonpurewhitevellum andembellishedwithrepresentations ofwattleandboronia,whichremindedhim,hesaid,oftheeidelweissofthe Alpinemountains.(Applause.)

ArchbishopClunesaidthatwhen visitorstotheconventwereentertainedtheyalwaysexpectedsometang veryrecherche,tasteful,beautiful,and artistic,andtheywereneverdisappointed.(Hear,hear).Theirdistinguishedvisitorwouldrealisefrom thatentertainmenthowsplendidlythe childrenattendingtheirschoolswore trainedandequippedforthegroove oflifetheyweredestinedtomovein. HisGracelaugl.inglyremindedArchbishopCattaneothattherewassomethiagwhichintheplentitudeofhis powerhecouldbestowonthechildreninreturnforwhattheyhaddone.

TheApostolicDelegateplayfully questionedthenecessity,orthedesire. onthepartofthepupilsforaholiday, andafterobservingwithatwinkling eyethebowsofdoubtand-xpectancy onthepupils'faces,hefinishedupby grantingaweekanoliday.

ST.BRIGID'SCONVENTAND SCHOOL.

St.BrigidConventandSchoolwas visitedbytheApostolicDelegateon Frdaymorning,the23rd.ult.He wasaccompaniedbyHisGrace,Mon. Verling,V.G.Manyoftheclergywere

presentattheentertainmentgivenby thepupilstohisExcellency,whowas metattheschoolentrancebyMonsignorBourke,whoescortedhimtothe mainhall,were400children,dressedin whiteandwearinggoldsashes,wereassembled.Theconcerthallwasgaily decorated,andreflectedgreatcrediton theSistersandchildren,whosesole workitwas.Rightacrossthestagewas stretchedalargestreamerwhichbore thewords,"WewelcomeourApostolic De.egate."InkeepingwiththetraditionsoftheSt.Brigid'sSchool,an excellentprogrammeofvocalandin. st'umentalitemswassubmittedbythe pupilsfortheentertainmentofhisExcellency,andthevisitors.EveryartistworeashieldwiththePapalcolours,endtheDelegate'scoatofarms hand-paintedonthem.St.Brigid's Orchestra,comprisingsixteeninstruments,openedtheprogrammewith "GodBlessthePope,"ashisExcellencyenteredtheconcerthall.FollowingcameagreetingandpresentaticrofsouvenirsonbehalfofthecommunityandpupilsTheaddresswas readbyMirsMollieMcBride,andthe presentationofvaluablesouvenirsby MissEileenAreur."SilverTrumpets," anorchestraloverturebyVivani,was adelightfulnumber,andgreatlyadmiredbyhisExcellency_Master GeraldHoganmadeaspeechofwelcomeonbehalfofthechildren.Mascagni's"AveMaria,"intwoparts,with violinobligatowasartisticallyrenderedbyMissesLillyWIolley,R.
