To-dayyouareassembledingreat numberstodohonourtoonewho welldeservestohehonoured-toa venerablepriestwhohasthegreatP happinessofcelebratingthisworningthegoldenjubileeofhisprofes- sionasaRedemptorist.Fr.O'Neill wasborninthebeautifulandpicturesqueValleyofAherlow,Co.Tipperary,on.July10,1841.Ilereceived hisearlyeducationinthelocalnationalschool,andthenenteredThurlesCollegetostudyforthepriest- hood.IleSoonfound,however,that hisvocationwasforthereligious life,andjoinedtheRedemptorists, inBishopEton,Liverpool,July2nd, 1862.IlewasprofessedonJuly2nd, 1863,andordainedapriestinLiverpool,Sept.19,1869,bytheRigL't Rev.Dr.Goss.Afteracoupleof yearsinPerth,Scotland,passedin preparationformissionwork,hewas appointedtoLimerickIlouse,and fromthatgreatcentrehegavemis- sionsinallthecountiesoftheProvinceofMunsterandafewCounties ofLeinster.FromLimerickFatL'er O'NeillwastransferredtotheClap- ham!louse,London.fromwhichhe gavemissionsindifferentpartsof EnglandandWales.Hethenagain returnedtoLimerick,wherehereniainedtillhisappointmenttoAus- tralia.AccompaniedbyRev.T.J.
