Unthe11thApril,1907,theRev FatherLetreste,O.M.I.,wasall aloneinhislonely.missionofGreat Prairie,situatedistweenSmayRiverinAlberta(Canada),on the South-eastofLa"eSasratac,n.This laseisoneofthesmalleronesin thatregion,beingonlyfourmiles longandthreeacross.Themission kiJusemeasurestwenty-sixfeethe twenty-feet,withasanctuaryten feetswareatoneend.Thereis momundertherafterswhichserves thepriestforkitchen,dining-room, andbedroom.Ontheouterpremisesthereisastablecompiedbethe missionan'shorse"Mikado."
Onthedaynamed,FatherLetreste'ssolitudewasbrokeninupon bythearrivalofBishopGrouard, O.M.I.,mhowasaccompaniedby BrotherMathys.Duringhisstay, hisLordshiparrangedforthetransferofthemissiontothebordersof anotherlakeninemilesdistantwhere anumberofCanadianhalf-t/reedshad settled.
