TheearlydeathofDr.Haynes gavequiteashocktoanumberof PeoPleonSatirday.Though he hadbeeninquestionablehealthfor sometime,veryfewimaginedthat theendwassonear.Sixoreight monthsagothedeceasedgentleman felthishealthbreakingdown,and hewasadvisedtotryaseatrip. andtogetthebestmedicaladvice intheEasternStates.Hereturned toPerth,lookingalittlebetter,but withoutmuchhopeofPermanentrecovery.Despitetheevidentprogress ofillnesshisextraordinaryvitality battledandheldswayuntilhisentireconstitutiongaveaway,andhe hadperforcetoretiretobed.Even thenhewasabletogivewiseand medicalcounsel,andhisnumerous clientsmadeacontinualdemandon hisfastdecreasingstrength.This strainbroughtonacompleteprostration,attendedbyallthesignsof paralysis.Everyattentionwasgivenhimbytheleadingdoctors;but noamountofmedical,skillorcare couldaverttheend.Hediedamost edifyingdeath,fortifiedbyallthe ritesofthe('atholicChurch.For weeksbeforehis-death,avisitto thedeceaseddoctorwasrewardedby aninstructionfromhimselfonthe happinessofdeingintheCatholic faithwiththeassuranceofsinforgivenandthevividhopeofeternal salvation.Itwasunfortunatethat hisfuneralhappenedonSundayas veryfewpriestsofthecityant suburbscouldpossiblyattenditin theafternoon.
