WhenhefirstcametoAustraliahe wasstationedatWaratah,andbesidesthisstateandVictoriahehas labouredinSouthAustralia and 90itensland.

ArchdeaconKelly,oneoftheablest andforemostpriestsoftheDiocese ofBathurst,N.S.W.,diedatCarcoos,lastweek,afteralingeringillness.Hewasinhis67th,yearand wasordained41yearsagoatAll Hallows'College,Dublinwherehe wasaclassfellowofBishop.Dunne ofBathurst.In1901,when,the priestsoftheDioceseassembledto selectasuccessortothelateBishop B%rne,hewasplaceddigniorinthe votin'.ThelateArchdeaconwas heldinthehighestesteembyall classesofthecommunity.Bishop Dunnepresidedatthesolemn')obset tillirSforthedeceasedsoul.R.I.P.

JosephMcCabe,theex-priestwho isatpresentlecturInginMelbourne, inaninterviewwallareporterin thaecityacknowlegestobeingan Englishman,andalsoamarriedman withfourchildren.Heconfessesto tieinganagnostic,havingleftthe Church14yearsago.Generallyhis lecturesaredirectedagainsttheCatholicChurchandheattacksher withalltheantagonism,ifnotthe

brilliancy,ofaVoltaire.ItisratherremarkablethattheFederal PostmasterGeneral,anadvancedMethodist,shouldfindhimselfhobnobbingwithadeclaredopponentof theChristianChurch-butthenMr. McCabehasdiscardedRomeandhe isofinteresteventothoseso-calledorthodoxChurchpeoplewhoare opposedtoher.Astheapologistof theAnarchistFerrer,McCabeisworthycfhisselfimposedtaskwhen werememberhisblasphemiousdeclaration"WehaveconductedGod tothefrontiersthankingHimfor hisprovisionalservices."
