WhiledrivingfromCarrick-on SuirtoMullinahone,29thJanuary,DistrictInspectorWoodsfound thedeadbodyofMichaelShea,20, lyingontheroadsideatBallyneale. ThebodywasconveyedtoCarrickonSuirpendinganinquest.Deceasedwasintheemploymentofa localfarmer.

HerrelativesinCarlowanddisdeathinNeA'Orleans,oftheRev. trictwilllearnwithregretofthe MotherMaryofSt.Cesaria,who forovertwelveyearswaaProvincialSuperioroftheSistersMarianitesoftheHolyCross.Anativeof Clonegal,Co.Carlow,whereshe wasbornsome60yearsago,she wasknowntotheworldasMiss MaryA.M'Donnell,andemigrated earlyinlifewithherparentsto America.LastyearshewasavisitoroftheBrigidineConvent,Tujlow,fortwomonths.

TheremainsofthelateMajorC. W.Knox,eldestsonofColonelC. H.Knox,oftheRifleBrigade,were laidtorestonSaturdayinthe familyvaultatBallinrobe.The funeralwaslargelyattended,and includedanumberofbrotherofficersoftheRifleBrigade.Allthe businesshousesofthetownwere closedandshuteredduringthe progressofthefuneralthroughthe streets,andsignsofthedeepestsympathyandmourningaereeverywhereapparent.

Herdeathwassudden, conseeuentleitwaskeenlyfeltby hercommunityandmanyfriendsand pupilswhosincerelylovedandrespectedthedeceasednun.Sheis oneofthefirstfour'SistersofMercywhoarrivedinCoolgardie12 yearsagoandhaslabouredduring thattimeintheschoolsasatrue sisterofMercy,andacloseimitatoroftheholyfoundressCatherine McAuley.Shewasanexceptionally brilliantsister,andhassucceededin passingagoodlynumberofpupils throughtheUniversity,andvarious highmusical'examinations. Her deathwasaholyone,anevident rewardofherhighandnoblework. Shebravelyacceptedtheinevitable, andresignedherwilltothatofher Maker,fortifiedbytheministrations oftheRev.FatherMasterson.She receivedHolyViaticumfromhim, anhourbeforeherdeath.
