TheherringfishingofftheDonegal Coastforthelasttwomonthshas finishedup.Duringthefishingover twentythousandcranesofherrings werelanded.Insomecasessteam fishingvesselsearnedover£T,000 eachforsixwee'6'wor,andall recordsforasingleday'scatchand bestindividualcatchwereroSen duringtheseason.Thenextfishing opensinMayandaveryheavyfleet fromtheEastCoastofScotlandis expected. er.

CouncilofRoscommonforratra,policedutyforthequarterendedSeptember1908.Therearemanyways formakingajoblast,andthepolicemaninIrelandknowshowmany beans,etc.11.

LIMERICK.

AttheSpringAssizesintheCountyCourthouse,Limerick,Daniel Fetton,JohnFitzpatrick(jun.), M'Grath,PatrickSullivan,Daniel Henessy,EdmondNagle,MichaelCarey,EdmondKrating,BernardFlynn ThomasBrassill,andJohnFetton, wereputforwardandindictedana chargethattheydidatKilfinane, County-Limerick,onJanuary28th, 1909,beingthenarmedwithsticks andstones,andotheroffensiveweapons,maliciously,unlawfully,and riotouslyassembletodisturbthe Peace.Onasecondcounttheywere chargedwithunlawfulassembly.The prisonerswhoweredefended,pleaded notguilty.Thejurybroughtina erdictof"notguilty,"against eightoftheprisonersanddisagreed withregardtotheremainingthree.

AtthelastmeetingoftheLimerickIndustrialAssociationaletter wasreadfromaprominentfirmof ItalianwarehousemeninLimerickin whichthewritersaid-"Ihave heardthatcomplaintshavebeensent totheAssociationstatingthatIrish candlesarenotasgoodoraslastingasimportedones.OutofcuriosityIhavecarefullyandimpartial1 triedifthisisso.byburningside bysidecandlesofanold-established first-classLondonmaker,andthose ofanIrishmanufacturer,andfind thatinfreedomfromsmoke,smell, andutterine,inillumination,power anddurabilitytheIrisharequiteas zood-infact,lastedslightlylonger thantheimportedones.Thewholesalepriceswerethesameineach case."

IntheHouseofCommons,Mr. WilliamRedmond,askedtheChief SecretaryifhewouldcalltheattentionoftheEstatesCommissioners totheurgencyofreinstatingthe evictedtenantsofCountyClareif hecouldsayhowmanyoaseshad beendealtwithandhowmanystill remainedtobedealtwith.

Alargepublicmeetingwasheldat Inch,Mid-Tipperary,convenientto ColonelTrant'sgrazingranchatDonee,whichconsistsofabout2,000 acres.Themeetingwasgotupin thecourseofafewhoursandwithouttheknowledgeofthelocalpoliceauthorities,whowerecompletely takenunawareswhenlargecontingentswithhandspouredintothe placeofmeetingfromLougdmore, Castdleiny,Moyallif,Ballycahill,Inch. Itisannouncedthatataprivate conferenceinCorethefriendsof Mr.W.O'Brien,M.P.,underhispresidencyhaveresolvedtopromotea newleaguetobecalled"The-Allfor-Ireland."Itspurposesarethus setout: Itsmainohjectwillbe "touniteonacommonplatform allIrish-bornmeninasoiriyofthe broadesttolerationofdifferencesof opinionbetweenbrotherNationalists, andofs-repulousrespectforthe rightsandfeelingsofourProtestant fellow-countrymen,withaviewto concentratingthewholeforceof Irishpublicopinioninamovement toobtainser-envernmentforthe IrishpeopleinIrishaffairs. Itsfurtherpurposewilltotodevelopkindlierspirit,patriotism,and co-operationamongIrishmenof everyrankandcreedinallother Aiectsforthenationalwelfarein ichcommonactionmaybefound practicable.
