Althoughit wasanticipatedbytheoptimistic Secretary,thattheattendancewould befairlylarge,itwasnotexpected thattheseatingcapacityoftheHall wouldhetaxedtotheutmost. Such,however.wasthecaseall theyoungandoldmenoftheparish,rollinguptoderivethatbenefitandknowledge,inseparablefrom adoctor'slecture.Themembersof thelocalC.Y.M.S.,wereespecially pleasedwiththelargeattendanceof menfromPerth manyofwhom wereformerly,connectedwiththe PerthC.Y.M.S. Anotherpeculiarityofthemindis thatwearedouble-brained,thusin theeventofonesideofthebrain beinginiured,theotherorremainingportion.willcarryoutthefunc-
tionspreviouslyperformedbythe injuredbrain.Whilsttherightside ofthebodyismanagedbytheleft brain,theleftsideofthebodyis workedbytherightbrain.Oneof themostseriousofcomplaints,viz Paralysis,usuallyoriginatesfrom thebrainthisafflictionbringsin itstrainlossofallpowerinthe bodyendtemporarysuspensionof thebrainpower.
TheDoctorparticularly'emphasised thefactthatDrink,thegreatest curseofmoderttimes,isagreatinfluenceinunderminingthestability ofthemind.
