Thegrandannualconcertgivenby thepupilsofthelocalPresentation Convent,intheTownHall,onWednesdayeveninglast,wasanunqualifiedsuccess,theitemsbeingfarsuperiortotheclassofprogrammeusuallypresentedbyjuveniletalent.Interestwassustained,andsoexcellent wasthesinging,speaking,andacting oftheyoungperformersthatmany regrettedthetermination.Tobring thestudentstosuchapointofexcellencemusthavebeentotheSistersalalorioustask.Thatsuccess attendedtheireffortswasamplydemonstratedbytheapplauseofa largeandappreciativeaudience.

Nevertheless,theyweremostsuccessfulinkeepingthehouseinroarsof laughter."Shamrock,RoseandThistle,"wasapleasingvariation,the vocalpowersofMissesAlmaCrutch, RubyBarlow,andAnnieMacDonald beingheardtoadvantage.Anorchestralitem,"WhisperandIshallhear," gaveevidenceofthestyleandtechniqueofmusictaughtattheConvent. Fromnewsreceivedduringtheweek welearnedthattheCommunityofSt. JohnofGod,whichstartedatBeagle Baysomemonthsago,isdoingsplendidwork,andtheSistersareexceedinglywellpleasedwiththeplace, andwiththechildrenthattheyhave incharge.Theysaythattheyoung nativesareverytractable,oLedient, andaffectionate.Fromphotoswhich wehaveseenoftheirclasseswhich wemayreprintinsomefutureissues, thehaulmarkoftheSistersisvery evident.Thedressandposeofthe childrenwouldconvinceanybodythat theculturedmind,andhandofthe religioushasalreadywroughtagreat dualfortheabandonedchildren.
