Kalgoorlie C.B.C. successes
Kalgoorlie C.B.C. Year 10 students took the open and senior prize in the Science Talent Quest awards last week. The group received $125 for their winning entry "Kalgras," against competition from 75 other entries. Their product was a new fertiliser for the Kalgoorlie area; previously there was no recommended compound above the limit of the wheatbelt. The Kalgoorlie experi-
ment consisted in the taking of soil analyses and then measuring the growth rates for different fertiliser treatments. Another group of the 60 students at the College studying science gained a $25 prize for a study on dust control over the slime dumps of Kalgoorlie.
• Kalgoorlie science vi'..rmers took time off during their visit to Perth last weekend to do a little testing on local soils. They are pictured from left to right: Brian HenTicker, James Hicks, Peter Usher and David Bentley.
