Liwara school, Greenwood, celebrated Catholk Schools week recently and one day was given over to visiting people as a sign of their Christian service. Fifty parents took groups of six children to such places as the Blind Institute, Spastic Centre, Homes for the Aged, Catherine McAuley Centre, and elderly people in their own homes. They are pictured helping Sue perform her exercises on a frame that teach her to walk and for w hich she must be assisted most of each day. The two girls summed up their experience with Sue: "It is sad to meet a person who has to do so much exercise simply to stay alive, but the visit taught us that you can have a lot of suffering but be happy if it is accepted. Some 20,000 Catholics; almost all foreigners who are technicians and work& men, come mainly from Italy, Yugoslavia and Poland. They are served hi six Franciscan priests under the leadership of Franciscan Bishop Guido Previtali, apostolic vicar of Tripoli. There are 120 Sisters, 41 of them in Tripoli; who conduct schools and work in hospitals. There are two church, es functioning, one in Tripoli and the other in engazi. Chapels in various Sisters' convents are also used as places of worship by lay people. Enough water for all "a matter of justice": Vatican's U.N. mission UNITED NATIONS (NC).— A sufficient supply of water for all individuals, families and communities "is a matter of justice," a position paper by the Vatican's United Nations mission has said. The paper was released here in preparation for a United Nations Conference on Water to be held in Mar del Plata. Argentina, in March. 1977. The conference will attempt to formulate a worldwide code of conduct governing water management. The delegates from more than 150 countries will focus on the fact that by the year 2000 there may be close to 8,000 million people on earth, most of them concentrated in cities.
BY 1990 The U.N.'s Conference on Human Settlements (Habitat) in Vancouver, Canada, recommended in June that governments should try to provide water of adequate quality to all communities by 1990. In many lands today, current rates of water consumption are straining available supplies — not only in high industrialised countries but also in less developed areas
of the world. The severity of this condition is expected to intensify as population multiplies.
POLLUTANTS
Problems of waste disposal, increasing proliferation of manmade chemical compounds and other meanwhile, pollutants, contribute to a deterioration in the quality of water. Environmental' and human health, livelihood, development and even life itself, in some areas. are all in jeopardy. Further, in many countries where a water shortage is not yet critical, increasing demand plus the high cost pollution control are causing a continuing rise in the cost of water.
"GRAVE DISPARITY" The immediate goal of the Conference on Water is a stock-taking of the whole gamut of waterrelated problems. The conference should also result in an international consensus on policy and operation measures.
The Vatican mission to the U.N. said that looked at the water problem from a human perspective. It said it saw a "glaring disparity" between those who had so much water so easily, and those whose homes had no water and whose work, food and living standards remained at the mercy of the weather and the rain it may bring.

FORMS WITHDRAWN Both doctors built their arguments around medical and legal developments in the widely publicised Karen Quinlan case. Living wills have been the source of controversy here since the Massachusetts Medical Society voted last May to provide such forms to physicians, on request, for use by patients. Approval was quickly revoked because of protests from right-to-life forces, and a further decision was postponed until the society meets in October. Dr. Stanton opposed living wills as "unnecesscary," having "no legal. force,' and dismissed them as "propagandistic device(s) of the Euthanasia Educational Council and as dangerous for the
doctor, for the patient and for society."
'COULD BE FATAL'
According to Dr. Stanton, "when a patient signs his or her name to a statement speaking 'of no reasonable chance of my recovery,' as they do in the living will, they are making a decision about an imprecise event in the vague future in an area where doctors are not noted for infallibility. "Their mistake could be a fatal one." The proposed living will authorises administration of drugs, "even if in relieving pain they may hasten the moment of death."

"The only proper role for medicine is to sustain life while there is any chance of recovery." He charged that the "Euthanasia Society of America, which originally proposed the killing of defective children in America, has been rehabilitated as the Euthanasia Educational Council," and now "seeks to have 1.5 million Americans sign living wills this year . . . "

NAIROBI (NC).— In July, soldiers dragged a priest away from the cathedral of Masaka, 50 miles south-west of Kampala, the Ugandan capital, and killed him, officials in Uganda believe, according to a report here by Dial Torgerson of the Los Angeles Times. Ugandan Catholic authorities had kept the incident secret because they thought the priest, Father Clement Mukasa, who was in charge of religious education at the Masaka cathedral, might still be alive in a Ugandan prison, the report said.

Brother Paul Keane>, was the "Big Boss" beloved by his boys who came in their hundreds from the old lands to Western Australia after the ,Second World War.
With them, and fur them, he built Boy's Town at Bindoon, and prepared the ground for the Tardun farm school, 80 miles east of Geraldton. Above all, by example and precept, he lead and encouraged his boys to build their own characters. His mind was never idle and always planning what was best to do for these boys exiled from their homes, families, and friends. Busy over many things, he had to be for the fire of compassion and love for his big family drove him on and on. In his eyes there were no bad boys. He lived his faith by accepting the problems boys from the Child Welfare Department, and those who ran away from home. The look of the big man, the naturalness of his speech and behaviour, the enthusiasm for the work on hand, be it bricks or sheep, concrete or cattle, won the wayward boy. His genial and uplifting personality made friends in every walk of life and his sincerity held them. A prominent manufacturer, the late Sir Lance Brisbane, once put It to me;
"No-one is safe from that man. He gets us laughing our heads off and then robs us. But how we delight to be robbed by such a man for such a cause." At Christmas the Binloon Boy's Town truck found its way in the early hours of the morning to the homes of many, and the startled occupants were awakened by the thud of a turkey on the verandah. No note was needed. Catholic, Protestant, Jew and the Free Thinker knew that no one but the "Big Boss" would think of them .
