Forty-three laity are attending out of a total of 140; some are taking only one unit and others are taking as many as four of the ten-lecture series. Holy Spirit Institute began in 1969 for the formation of junior professed Religious. I t has since extended its work to cover all Religious and this year, in addition to the morning sessions attended by 21 women Religious, it was decided to offer evening extension courses open to laity as wel l in view of the widely voiced demand by diocesan and parish pastoral councils and other groups for more adult education in the various aspects of Catholic Faith. A new series of subjects will be presented during the second semester corn. mencing in August.

• Pictured making their Legion of Mary Promise during the Acies ceremony in St. Mary's Cathedral are (left) the incoming president of the Perth Senatus, Brother Reg Williams and the retiring president, Bro. ther Paul Smith. In a message to Senatus members, Brother Williams emphasised the need for greater prayer efforts on the part of all Legion members. He said: . . . if there is one thing I would like to see it would be every Legionary assisting at daily Mass. "The quality of our Legion work will be determined by the fervour with which we undertake our prayers and as the Mass is the centre of our faith we should demonstrate our love for it by attending as frequently as possible. "Let us make greater endeavours to achieve the object, to attain which we became Legion members, of personal sanctification by bringing others to sanctity."

During Lent on each Friday evening, a specia.I Mass has been celebrated in St. Mary's Cathedral in order to observe in a special way the Holy Year that is being kept in churches outside Rome in 1974 and in Rome itself in 1975. On several occasions during the Holy Year the Archbishop designates times and places where the Holy Year Indulgence can be gained. By assisting at any of these Lenten Masses each Friday evening at 7.30 it has been possible to gain the Indulgence. The last Mass takes place on Friday, April 5. For the benefit of parishes giving their own liturgies on the themes of Penance and Reconciliation the following notes are offered.
Factory installed. Radio controlled vans. complete range of doors and screening custom made designs in venetians and awnings
RECONCILIATION WITH GOD Throughout the season of Lent we have been gather:19 togecher in order to grow in the spirit of Penance and Reconciliation. We have seen the need for peace within ourselves and peace with each other. Now we turn our attention to being reconciled with God Himself. Each of us as individuals must be at peace with his God — and as a community we must also have a clear picture of our at-one-ness with the Lord. A s we prepare for Holy Week we must enter it knowing that we are children of the light, reconciled through the Death and the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. FIRST READING: Jeremiah 20 : 10-13. In the first part of this reading enemies make their bid to overthrow, but in the second part the glory of the Resurrection is promised. In this way Jesus has reconciled all men to His Father. Our aim must be to live that salvation, that deliverance in praise. GOSPEL READING: John 10 : 31-34. This is the final scene before the drama of the Passion. It is this Jesus who by His death and resurrection has overcome the s ting of all death and reconciler' man to God.

Major Roman Curia officials will join the Pope each Friday to hear a sermon on Christology as found In Papal writings presented by Franciscan Father Ilarino Da Milano, preacher of the
