The bishops of Australia continued their national half - yearly conference in Sydney again last week. On this occasion they were joined by 70 from surprelates rounding Pacific areas, who have come to Australia. They took the occasion to look at broader issues such as justice and development and the meaning of the priesthood today. Bishop appeals for Tradesmen at Beagle Bay
in a letter to Father Nicholas McSweeney at the Catholic Missions Office, the Bishop said that the materials for the proposed all-purpose hall, 60 x 40 feet, and a classroom kindergarten 40 x 25 feet were already on the site. Both are steel structures clad with asbestos sheets and have corrugated iron roofs; the frames are pre-fabricated Bishop Jobst pointed out that the need for the buildings was urgent. He said that it would be possible to provide Aboriginal labour to help with the project.
