Catholic Schools Crisis

HE Federal Catholic Schools Committee expressed considerable concern that due to the rapidly rising running costs, particularly for the salaries of teachers, and also the cost of capital development and maintenance, the Catholic community is finding it impossible to build and maintain new schools in new areas both city and country throughout Australia. The Committee also noted that the precise problem faces Government Education administrators.

ITH A HEART filled with joy and hope, we address ourselves, as we do each year, to all our children of the great Catholic family to ask their participation — their spiritual, fervent, unanimous and wholehearted participation — on the occasion of the Eighth World Day of Prayer for Vocations.

Highlights of the Festival "acting and production-wise" were many but mention must be made of the delightful Junior section entries of "Little Red Riding Hood," "The Ghost of Bunyip Creek" and "The Blackfeet and the Whitefeet".
