SILVER JUBILEE Pope Paul's visit to the headquarters of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation on the occasion of its Silver Jubilee and the address he delivered on that occasion merits widespread consideration. In itself, the visit marks Papal support for this international body and reaffirms the Church's concern for the development of peoples. Pope Paul made it clear that the Church is firmly opposed "to artificial birth control." NEW BALLET SEASON THE W.A. Ballet Company has just completed a most successful tour of the State and the Territory of Papua New Guinea. On completing a very exacting winter season at the Playhouse, the the toured Company South-West and then included visits to Kalgoorlie, Broome and Derby as well as other centres in the Nor-West. This was the second successive year that the Company has spent 10 weeks in the 'North of Australia Tour'. The Company also appeared in the large coastal towns such as Port Moresby, Rabaul. and

The home-Mass on weekdays, several times a year in each group, can be a climax well prepared for. The personal relationships being developed in each discussion group need the experience of the Eucharist at that level. "No Christian community can be built up unless it is rooted and centred in the most Holy Eucharist. It is there that education in the community spirit must begin". ( Vatican II). At the same time, the home-Mass will be pointing to that larger gathering of the parish community in Sunday Mass. • The way is open for an informed and believing community to assume responsibility for the spiritual and social needs of all its people. Once the laity know one another and, in numbers, are solidly motivated to use their talents for the needs of the whole community, it will be time for the election of a parish council.
