Reports have it in the Vatican that Cardinal Agagianian, prefect of the Church's top missionary office is about t o resign from the Curia. This bearded, smiling Cardinal is known the world over as a dynamic personality concerned with the spread of the Gospel. No one at the Vatican could confirm this report even though it was known that the Cardinal who has just topped 75 last September 18. was not enjoying the best of health. An African Cardinal or one from South America have been maintained as nossible successors to this great office. The names of Cardinal Paul Zoungrana of Africa and Cardinal Casareige of Guatemala City have been linked together in connection with the succession to the Prefecture of the Evangelisation of Peoples. This was hitherto known as the Propagation of the Faith. The promotion of one of these to that office would be another move on the part of Pope Paul to make the Curia more representative of world peoples and more conversant with their needs

"Things go better" with Community. Deeply human things persist and flourish amongst us to the degree that we hold them in alliance with one another. Jesus Christ recognised this, and the primary value He gave to His Church was to be a real COMMUNITY . • a community of love, though not the unstructured, angelic dream of a hippie camp; • a community of witness to the dynamic presence of the Son of God, and not merely a community of social concern.
Plans have just been announced of $2,000,000 extensions to Britain's renowned National Gallery. This is the home of one of the finest art collections in the world. The new extensions wi" provide 10 new galleries and increase the hanging space by a quarter. Built in the 1830's its long white classical facade is designed to crown the visual effect of Trafalgar Square which it overlooks. The new extensions, in the modern idiom, will be to the rear of the building. At ground floor level, the new extension will house much of the Reserve Collection which the Gallery's director claims contains 'pictures other museum any would like to have in its main exhibition area'. On the main floor will be the 10 new principal galleries, some smaller rooms and an experimental gallery. In another part of the extension the scientific department will be housed with speciallylaboratories designed and offices. Dear Boys & Girls This week, on the 1st and 2nd of November, the Church remembers al l the Saints and all Christians who have died. We remember these people, whether or not they are recog n ised as Saints by the Church, because it is the aim of all of us to become Saints. Many of us probably have relatives or friends who have died, either r ecently or perhaps some time ago. No matter who, or how long ago they d ied, now is a good time to remember them; to pray for them; and to try to imitate their virtues. It is a time of year also, to remember just exactly the reason for our being Christians; to recall our aim in l ife, which is our ultimate union with Christ in heaven. The Feasts of All Saints, and All Souls should be reminders that one day each one of us must die, and that because of our destination we should not be afraid of death nor saddened by the thought of it. Set aside a little time on Sunday or Monday to think about death; to f ind out what it means to you; and to pray about it. God bless you all, BROTHER JUNIPER.
