Dear Boys & Girls Have you ever thought of the value of words and the things that can be done with them. ' Words' are usually an expression of our thoughts and feelings. But w ords can be used in many different w ays and depending on the way we use them, we can do either good or bad. We use words in prayer - to speak to God. To ask for things and to thank Him and praise Him. We use words to speak to othersto tell them of our deepest feelings; to express our ideas and opinions. But we can be selfish in our use of w ords if we dominate a conversation so that no-one else has the chance to speak, or if we say horrible things a bout or to other people. "Think before you speak," is not an empty cliche, but a wise maxim based on experience and logic. And if more people thought before they spoke, then the world would probably be a far happier place. Remember that words can be used to compliment people; to comfort; to inspire; to allay people's fears; to instil knowledge; to express love and a dmiration and beauty; and to give people new and different insights. Every writer and poet who has ever lived has been aware of the power of words, and both the good and evil that can re, ult from their use. It would be a good thing if everyone, and especially you children, could become more conscious and aware of this power, and in so doing, make sure that 'your' words were used only for good.
