Not many ever get close to it because it costs quite a bit. Our Lord Himself said that "narrow is the gate and straight is the way that leadeth to love," and few there are who find the way. And yet despite all of His superhuman demands, He gently turns

A s a youth Romuald was wayward and pleasure-seeking until the day he witnesed a duel in which his father killed a man. Romuald fled to a nearby monastery and there remained for three years. Then, with the abbot's consent, he took up the life of a hermit and, having mastered self, set out as a preacher in foreign countries. But his heart was still in the monastic life and so he set about founding hermitages and monasteries. His most famous monastery was that at Camaldoli. It became the heart of his Camaldolese Order which, although not very large, still exists in many countries. St. Romuald died in 1027. general calendar in 1595.
