President Dear Friend of Spalding, This is truly an exciting time to be at Spalding!
TOGETHER WE RISE
From the
Our community has never been more vibrant. Our programs continue to advance, and our faculty and staff remain committed to improving the student experience for a fast-changing world. While we are blessed to be operating from this position of strength, we know there is more we must do to push Spalding to the next level of excellence. In doing so, we listened hard to our community. Planning involved well over 600 passionate Spalding supporters who participated through surveys, focus groups, and one-on-one meetings. This information was vital in determining the path forward for Spalding and our community. We are now ready to take on these challenges with the launch of Together We Rise: The Campaign for Archbishop Spalding High School. This campaign and its funding components underscore our commitment to forward-seeking excellence. Through its success, we will achieve three critical objectives: •
We will address the next capital priorities. This includes the creation of a new Dining Commons, an expanded, multi-purpose space that will impact much more than just student “lunch.”
•
We will expand program offerings for all students, including the establishment of an Options Program for students with intellectual disabilities.Doing so will allow us to serve a student community who do not currently have access to a Catholic education.
•
We will grow our endowment. With an eye to the future, we must create additional revenue from our endowment to support our financial aid and faculty excellence programs.
I encourage you to read the pages that follow to learn more about each component and the funding model we will use to achieve success. None of this is possible without the partnership and generosity of our Spalding community.. I invite you to consider our vision and ask you to consider making Spalding and this campaign one of your family’s giving priorities. Together we rise! Sincerely,
Shannon Gilligan ‘94 P’23 ‘25 President, Archbishop Spalding High School

Walk down the halls of Archbishop Spalding High School today, and you’ll quickly discover that while much has changed since the school opened 60 years ago, so much of the core strength remains the same. As you peer into places like the Clearedge Innovation Center, you won’t find blackboards or students sitting in desks, but you will hear the hum of a 3-D printer and the animated voices of students unpacking the challenges of artificial intelligence. You’ll still hear the pledge of allegiance and daily prayers emanating from the PA, but you’ll also see students clustered in small group learning sessions in a vibrant learning resource center or practicing lacrosse on a turfed field. Prayer groups continue to gather in our original, sacred chapel, while all-school liturgies take place in a modernized performing arts center. In the halls and on the playing fields, in liturgy and in labs, through theatrical productions and musical performances…bigger, bolder, more impactful futures start at Archbishop Spalding High School. The progressive track of our history from our founding to today offers a study in contrasts: holding on to what matters – our Catholic identity, our One in Christ motto, our commitment to a leadingedge student experience – while adapting to the changing demands of a contemporary world. There have been many different “eras” of Spalding over its 60 years. But Spalding has always been restless, flexible, adaptable. We’ve been on a sixty-year mission of advancement – better programs, better results, better facilities. We have accomplished so much, so much remains to be done. 2

TOGETHER WE RISE
As we look ahead to the next 60 years, we realize we have arrived at a strategic moment.
How do we continue to provide the very best co-educational high school experience for a wide variety of students seeking a college-prep, comprehensive Catholic experience?
•
How do we sustain our traditional Spalding spirit in a rapidly changing world?
•
How do we continue to invite and serve the students that want – and need – all that we have to offer?
We do it by calling on everyone in our passionate, generous community. We do it together. Our success is built on the shared vision and hard work of countless Spalding leaders, alums, parents, faculty, and supporters. Continuing this legacy will require those who know and love Spalding to join us once again, in ways large and small.
This is our time to rise: …by establishing new facilities that complement all we have already completed over the past 20 years. …by continuing to grow our exceptional educational programs, offering opportunities for all students to thrive and positively impact the entire Spalding community …by growing the endowment to improve the annual revenue stream we will have for financial aid and faculty support. Together We Rise is the next step in Spalding’s commitment to improvement. It is not “program specific.” Its impact will touch every current and future students – musicians, athletes, robotics team members. Funds secured through philanthropic support will help us better prepare our young people to meet the challenges of college and beyond. We will adapt where necessary while firmly embracing our mission and traditions.
We welcome your partnership on the journey.

Core Objectives •
Build the campaign on a comprehensive and long-range view of the school’s future.
•
Engage our community in forward-thinking – in one-on-one conversations, focus groups, and surveys.
•
Use the campaign as a funding “umbrella” that covers three core areas of school improvement: (1) capital needs, (2) program support, and (3) endowment growth to support financial aid and faculty excellence, and secure multi-year pledges to support these needs.
•
Sustain Spalding’s growing and essential annual giving programs that support the school’s operating costs while seeking campaign pledges and support.
•
Promote planned giving as an additional way to support the campaign and grow the endowment.

TOGETHER WE RISE
The Campaign for Archbishop Spalding High School Initial Phase Goal: $12,500,000
Capital Priorities:
$9,000,000
Create a Dining Commons. While much has been accomplished in creating contemporary spaces on campus – athletics, innovation center, learning commons, for example -- the current cafeteria remains a “weak spot.” It is old, too small, and non-functional relative to current student needs. Through the redesign and expansion of existing space, we will build a new multi-purpose commons that provides healthier and more efficient student dining, eliminates the need for early lunch, and provides space for students to “be,” study, socialize, wait for rides, etc., outside of standard lunch hours. Provide Infrastructure Upgrades. As part of the Dining Commons creation, we will upgrade systems in the original 1966 building, including adding air conditioning to the old gym. Complete Additional Classroom Renovations. Already started, we will continue the updating of classrooms, including furniture and fixtures required for a dynamic experiential learning environment. Enhance Current Exterior Facilities. The continued interest in Spalding athletics requires constant attention to facility enhancement. Projects, including turfing the front field, will significantly improve flexibility for outdoor team practice and play, and also provide an enhanced “look” to the front face of the school.
Program Enhancements:
$1,500,000
Establish an Options Program. A newly created Spalding Options program will provide opportunities for a student cohort we are currently unable to serve – students with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Campaign support will provide five years of operational funding for this program, which envisions a multi-year phase-in, capping out at 10-12 students in total. This program addresses a current shortcoming of our “One in Christ” mission, serving not only students with direct needs but also providing countless benefits to the entire school community.
Endowment:
$2,000,000*
Grow the Spalding Endowment, with a commitment to provide continued financial aid and faculty enrichment. *The primary means to grow the Spalding endowment is through planned and estate giving. We invite all supporters of Spalding and Together We Rise to consider remembering Spalding in their will and estate plan in order to strengthen access to the school and secure the school’s long-term health.
