PRESIDENT’S LETTER Dear Archbishop Spalding High School Community, with the arrival of a new school year, we welcomed our freshmen, the Class of 2027. To these new Cavaliers, I compared their experience at Archbishop Spalding High School to that of the rising sun. “The sun has risen,” I told them, “on your time as Cavaliers.” The sun has risen on a new day for Spalding and because of your philanthropic support, and with the support of over 15000 alums spread across the globe, the sun will never set on these new Cavaliers.

For almost 60 years, the Archbishop Spalding community has believed in the power of education to transform lives. We take pride in our mission to provide a Catholic education that prepares and challenges our students to grow academically, spiritually, physically, and emotionally all while providing a caring, welcoming environment. This mission is made possible not only through the dedication of our exceptional faculty and staff but also through the generosity of our community.

Your philanthropic commitment has made a profound difference in the lives of our students and the future of our Cavaliers. Through your time, talent, and treasure, we have continued to provide a high-quality education that prepares our students for success. Your contributions have allowed us to offer financial aid to deserving students who might not have otherwise had the opportunity to benefit from the exceptional education we provide. You have enhanced our educational programs and given our students the tools to explore and create new knowledge.

From the music wing to our innovation center and from our Chapel to our athletic fields, your support has made a lasting impact on these young minds and hearts, opening doors to a brighter future.

As we look ahead, your continued support will be more critical than ever. We have ambitious goals to further enhance our academic programs, expand our facilities, and provide even more scholarships to deserving students. With your partnership, we can make these dreams a reality.

As the president, it is my privilege to serve this remarkable community that has witnessed the dawn of a new day. A SPALDING EMPLOYEE’S TALE CONTINUING TO FOSTER A LOVE OF LEARNING "I'm an alum," Michele says. "I loved this school as a student and continue to love all it stands for. I work with the most wonderful faculty and staff. And in the last 20 years, thousands of inspiring, talented students have come through the library doors. I believe in each and every one of them."

Michele is particularly devoted to Spalding's Creative Writing Club, which she has moderated for many years. She also enjoys supporting the school's theater program “The students’ creativity and passion have been remarkable to witness.”

A Spalding Employee‘s Tale For 17 consecutive years, Michele Stumpf, who graduated from Archbishop Spalding High School in 1978, has been supporting Spalding students by donating to the Spalding Fund. This year, Michele celebrates her 20th year in the Spalding Library, where her cheerful demeanor and uplifting words of encouragement have consistently motivated students. In 2020, she was honored as the recipient of the prestigious Spirit of Spalding Award. Michele's impact on students' lives extends beyond her inspirational interactions; her financial support plays a crucial role in bolstering Spalding's programs and fostering positive change in the student community.

Michele was first inspired to give to the school during the Expanding the Spirit campaign, launched in 2004, to raise money to improve the school's facilities and programs. With a firm belief in the school’s mission and commitment to providing students with a quality education, her dedication to supporting Spalding remains steadfast. In her eyes, Spalding’s focus on faith formation and dedication to helping students reach their potential sets a high standard of excellence in a supportive environment.

This year, the improvements to the Library Learning Commons have transformed the space she has called home for the past 20 years into a modern, innovative space to foster student creativity and collaboration. “I can’t wait to see what the next 20 years brings to Spalding,” Michele says. “I plan to continue to support Spalding.”

A MESSAGE TO POTENTIAL DONORS Michele has seen firsthand how donor contributions have helped to transform Archbishop Spalding High School. She is proud of the improvements made to the school's technology and facilities. “The updated building and grounds match the beauty of the students’ potential,” she says. “Donor contributions also help us attract and retain the best teachers in the area.”

Michele encourages others to consider giving to Archbishop Spalding High School. She believes every gift makes a difference, no matter how small. "The students today need so much more than I did back in the 1970s,” Michele says.

“And Spalding continues to provide the support, academic rigor, and faith-filled community that prepares students for success.”

A MESSAGE TO ALUMS "Education opens so many doors of opportunity for our students," Michele says. "And hopefully, all of our alums would want to see the school providing future students the same opportunities they were provided when they were here and join me in helping expand Spalding’s impact."

CHAMPIONS OF SPALDING'S FUTURE

Tim and Erin Jaeger, two extraordinary individuals whose generosity has left an indelible mark on our beloved community, are the proud parents of Billy ’24, Maggie ’26, and Abby, whom they hope will be part of the Class of 2028. As we delve into their journey, we discover the profound connection they share with Spalding and their unwavering commitment to its growth and success.

A SPALDING FAMILY‘S TALE Tim and Erin's Spalding journey began over two decades ago when they relocated to Annapolis. As they started to grow their family, they embarked on a quest to find the perfect educational environment.

Erin reminisced about their initial impressions: "We went to almost every open house in the area, but for us, Spalding spoke to us on a bunch of different levels." One of these compelling factors was the Aquinas program, which their son Billy would eventually join, providing the academic support he needed. More importantly, they felt confident that Spalding would celebrate their children, offering numerous clubs, athletics, and teams to cater to their varied interests.

Tim echoed these sentiments: "It doesn't matter if you're on the lacrosse field, football, or the track and field cross country. Everything's praised." It was this inclusive and nurturing environment that sealed the deal for their family, culminating in the decision that Spalding was where their children belonged.

SUPPORTING EDUCATION AT SPALDING Their connection to Spalding runs deep. When asked about their motivation to support education, Tim expressed a desire to see the school thrive and keep pace with other institutions. He emphasized, "We like to give back to Spalding as much as we possibly can." Their commitment is not just about giving financially but also about investing in the future of the school.

Erin chimed in, emphasizing their desire to see their children and other future alumni proud of their alma mater. Their contributions extend beyond their own children; they are building a legacy for generations of Spalding alumni to come.

PROUD MOMENTS IN SPALDING‘S DEVELOPMENT The Jaegers have witnessed significant changes and advancements in Spalding since their children joined the school community. Erin highlighted the impact of the engineering building, where their children take computer science classes. This state-of-the-art facility has empowered students to explore their potential, showcasing Spalding's commitment to providing the best possible education.

In addition to academics, Tim emphasized the strides made in athletics, with teachers going the extra mile to support students. As Erin emphasized, “My children are all very different learners and individuals, to see them grow independently, and be celebrated on their different path is priceless and helps us know we made the right decision for them in sending them to Spalding”.

A MESSAGE TO POTENTIAL DONORS Tim and Erin shared their passion for giving and encouraged others to join in supporting Spalding. Erin emphasized, "Donating really goes back to the kids. It's about paving the future for not only our kids but creating a school that our kids are proud to be alumni of. The future of Spalding will only be bright if we all do our part to support its growth and future.”

The Jaegers' story is one of commitment, community, and a deep belief in the power of education. Their dedication to Spalding ensures that future generations of students will continue to thrive.
