REVIVE & RECONNECT 1
THE HISTORICAL PERMANENIES OF PORTO DI MARE
Location: Porto di Mare, Milan, Italy
Type: Thesis -Heritage Regeneration & Adaptive Reuse
Tutors: Paola Nella Branduini
Co-Author : Claudia Levina
Located in southeast Milan, Porto di Mare faces neglect and safety concerns despite its rich history tied to agricultural traditions and architectural landmarks.
Our thesis project aims to revive these historical elements, rejuvenating the area for contemporary and future relevance. We’ll repurpose structures, revive Marcita cultivation, and collaborate with locals to stimulate economic growth and foster community connections. Our vision includes creating communal spaces, promoting cultural exchange, and boosting tourism while preserving Porto di Mare’s heritage. Ultimately, we aim to establish Porto di Mare as a hub for heritage-led tourism, regeneration, and sustainable development, ensuring its resilience and vitality for the future.

The objective of the project is to build one cohesive project giving importance to structure, composition and materiality in 3 different scale such as city scale, equipment scale and small scale in the themes of a gate to city/river, gate to knowledge and gate to family respectively.
The site, rooted in the core concept of exchange, intertwines historical trade significance into every aspect. The axis defines the connection between the city and river, emphasizing symmetry and the importance of water and greenery. In Alexio, the project stands as a landmark, blending nature, glass, and concrete—an amalgamation showcasing human engineering brilliance and tangible materiality on a human scale.
STRATEGY
Cultural exchange blends and subtracts elements, creating a dynamic interplay. As something is taken away, it leaves a void, simultaneously giving rise to something new and substantial.
LAND & WATER
Make the river more than just a route or scenic view. Integrate it into the city recalling the era when water facilitated trade and cultural exchange. Bring the river into the site where it meets the city, creating a dynamic balance through the interchange of space and footprint.
Master plan 1:2000
22
The Island, a floating haven for migratory birds, symbolizes the serene balance between land and water, offering a peaceful refuge from human hustle.
A third landscape secluded from the city
THE BIOTOPE
The convergence of our project's key axes - the main street (x), water axis (y), and glass obelisk (z) - forms the origin, a focal point. The piazza, a pedestrian-friendly space, serves as a social hub for Alexio, with roads and tram lines intersecting. Beneath, the water pavilion offers a dynamic panorama of Porto across the Douro, creating an immersive volumetric experience.
THE ORIGIN
The Parallel Worlds
23
The Arrival, an entrance to the water pavilion, redefines man’s engineering of the material glass, floating on water. The stairwell to the tunnel offers a striking shift in volume, transforming from vast to confined space. A strategic landmark, this glass structure now defines Alexio.

Location: White waters of Carrara,Italy
Type: Advanced Landscape Design- semester 3
Tutors: Phd.Ar. Sara Protasoni, Pergalani Floriana, Francesca Neonato
Team: Group of 4
Carrara is home to world-renowned Italian marble quarries. It is located on the Carrione River, approximately 100 kilometers (62 miles) west-northwest of Florence. Because of the marble dust, the river has turned white and dry. The city’s youth are leaving, and there is little tourism or a proper public landscape for the locals.
During the analysis, we discovered visual, physical, and social barriers that prevent users from connecting with the river, city, and site. To address this issue and highlight the beautiful existing sequential landscape, we attempted to re-create the connection with the river, existing greens, Villa Ceci, the city, and our site. Our strategy is to transform Carrara’s lost and underdeveloped landscape into a more breathable cultural landscape.

The focus is on a family where each member has their own small nest, with bedrooms serving multiple functions like sleeping, leisure, eating, and communication. This individualized living may underutilize common spaces, weakening family bonds. The ‘world within a world’ concept could lead society towards greater personal cocooning, distancing individuals from a sense of oneness and promoting divergence.

Project: Rural Housing- Adaptive Reuse of an Italian Casina
Team: Hrishi Ramesh, Claudia Levina
Rural Housing aims to define new ways of living in the Italian countryside through the adaptive reuse of traditional constructions. The transformation of this historic complex into contemporary homes immersed in the landscape will determine a new beginning for this Lombard farmhouse.
The challenge is to transform Cascina Lossano into a new housing complex capable of serving the needs of the present while respecting the history of its past. One of the project’s primary objectives is to promote inclusivity and community living. To achieve this, a diverse range of housing options will be created, accommodating various income levels and family sizes.

Project : Yashoda Hi-tech Hospital
Location: Hyderabad, India
Type: Health Care
Project Architect: Suman Paul
Project Summery: Yashoda Hospitals in Hitch City, situated in Hyderabad’s tech hub, is poised to become one of India’s largest medical facilities, spanning 20 lakhs sq. ft. with 2000 beds. Emphasizing patient recovery, each floor incorporates 4000-5000 sq. ft. of greenery.
The hospital is conceived as a ‘Medical Park,’ drawing inspiration from nature, featuring distinct gardens like the Garden of Care, Garden of Hope, Garden of Prayer, and Garden of Solace. These courts form a Wellness Path, organizing public and private hierarchies. The architecture’s gradual breakup, marked by a triple-height entrance and staggered cutouts, enhances the overall design.
