CAROLINE NELSON MIRIAM HOFFMANN

Arcadia Contemporary is pleased to present a two-artist exhibition featuring works created by Caroline Nelson and Miriam Hoffmann.
While depicting similar subject matter, their approaches could not be more different. One individual possesses a strong technical background, having greatly benefited from rigorous academic instruction and the other is almost purely instinctual, having received no formal training. What both artists and their works do have in common is an inherent desire to convey the vast array of human emotions.

CAROLINE NELSON
Born in 1998, and currently painting out of her own studio in North Carolina Nelson is an artist whose works are continually inspired by the Old Masters. While seeking to celebrate technical skill, truth and natural beauty in her drawings and oil paintings, the final paintings are also elegant commentaries on contemporary life. Nelson’s works provide a modern flair to impressionism while exploring themes of tranquility, femininity, and hope that reflect her formal art education in classical realism. And while she aspires to create timeless paintings, these works are not necessarily seeking to relive the past, but rather build upon the hundreds of years of realistic tradition while celebrating greater themes of humanity in today’s world.

MIRIAM HOFFMANN
Born in Germany in 1991 and raised in the United States, Miriam Hoffmann through her largely self-taught painting background, explores creative realism; where the precision of realism meets the fluidity of emotion. Hoffmann’s oil paintings are a reflection of her inner world, serving as an outlet where emotions and stories come alive on canvas. Having started painting during the height of the 2020 Covid lockdowns, she enrolled in her first art class and spent many hours studying YouTube and Instagram videos for painting techniques. This is the artist’s debut exhibition and the results are breathtaking.
