WHERE THEORY AND PRACTICE MEET
Arcada is a multi-professional university of applied sciences (UAS) in Helsinki, Finland. At our international and green campus 2,700 students and 170 employees come together across disciplines to educate tomorrow’s experts.
We offer practice-oriented higher education at bachelor’s and master’s level. With degree programmes in English within Business, Media, Engineering and Healthcare, we offer you a wide range of options from which to launch or take the next step in your career.
In addition to the unique learning environments on campus, we have several years of experience of online tuition, enabling us to connect across boarders and be digitally innovative.
At Arcada all bachelor’s programmes include practical training periods to ensure you get the best possible skills for working life. We firmly believe that by combining theory and practice you learn the most – practical skills and theoretical knowledge complete each other. This is one of the reasons why a degree from Arcada is highly valued by employers, both in Finland and internationally.

AN INTERNATIONAL APPROACH
Life at Arcada is filled with intercultural encounters. In fact, we are one of the most international UASs in Finland in relation to size, with around 15 per cent of our degree students coming from abroad. On our campus, students and staff from over 60 countries ensure that dialogue and co-operation across cultural and national borders are both as natural as they are rewarding.
Not only do we welcome the world to Arcada, but we also encourage our students and staff to participate in projects and study abroad. We are part of a wide range of international exchange and co-operation networks, and conduct research in collaboration with academic institutions, organisations and companies, both in Finland and abroad. We collaborate with more than 120 partner universities from around the world.
Two things that our international co-operation partners and students appreciate in particular are that most Finnish people speak fluent English, and that Helsinki’s international airport makes it very easy to travel to Finland – from Europe, Asia and all over the world.
ALL-IN-ONE CAMPUS
The Arcada campus in Arabianranta is a unique, compact campus close to the heart of Helsinki, boasting some of the finest living labs and learning environments in the country. Our campus also offers modern accommodation at competitive rents in beautiful surroundings with the sea just around the corner. The student apartments, 610 in total, are close to everything you need, the UAS main building, the house of the student union, a shopping centre as well as tram and bus stops. You will get to the Helsinki city centre in 20 minutes by public transport
RESEARCH FOR A BETTER TOMORROW
At Arcada we conduct practical research relevant to the world we live in. Here students and staff come together to find an answer to a need or a solution to a problem that society, the public sector or the business world may be facing. When something has been “made in Arcada”, it means that it was created with a societal and sustainable impact in mind.
Research and development are an integrated part of all our activities and conducted in close collaboration with various companies and the public sector. The result is a diverse portfolio of internationally acclaimed projects. Arcada is a member of several academic networks and takes part in research projects in co-operation with institutes of higher learning all over the world. As a student you get to actively participate in these initiatives, develop your competencies and thus strengthen your position in the labour market.
