he ARCA Design Center Guadalajara, designed by Esrawe Studio, redefines the quarry as an architectural marvel celebrating raw materials. A monolithic facade leads to the Agora, a grand central space evoking a quarry’s essence.

More than a retail space, it serves as a cultural hub for architecture, design, and art. The building divides into two sections: the quarry universe and a translucent warehouse displaying stones against a forest backdrop, reconnecting visitors to their origins. uring Miami Art Week 2022, Alicja Kwade unveiled Pretty Pity, a striking public artwork in collaboration with ARCA at the Wynwood showroom. This large-scale installation reimagines Kwade’s signature marble spheres as melting ice cream scoops, offering a satirical reflection on the global warming crisis. Crafted from exquisite marbles like Rosa Valencia, Marrón Emperador, Giallo Sienna, and Bianco Carrara, the sculpture juxtaposes beauty with impermanence.

From afar, the forms appear as perfect stone spheres, but up close, their softened edges evoke ice melting under the Miami heat—a poignant nod to the fragility of our environment and a reminder of the once-luxurious Alpine ice desserts of the French Court, now lost to climate change and relentless consumerism.

ank Willis Thomas, renowned for exploring identity, race, and culture, brings profound depth to his work. Part of his Punctum series inspired by Roland Barthes, the piece examines sculptural memorialization and fleeting gestures that symbolize unity and perseverance. Unveiled at ARCA Wynwood during Miami Art Week 2023, the piece features two monumental arms—each 3.87 feet wide and 7.41 feet tall—intertwined in an embrace that reflects human connection, solidarity, and the power of nonviolent movements.

Crafted from Green Levanto and Carrara Marble, with a Black Absolute Granite base, the sculpture merges artistic vision with the enduring beauty of natural stone, transforming raw material into a timeless symbol of strength and unity.
