The August White Party was held at Senai Thai Bistro in downtown Tucson, Arizona. It was an intimate affair with excellent food and wine pairings by award winning Chef /Owner, Dee Bulzer. We had a sommelier in attendance for the education portion of our event who gave us great insights to some of the production methods from the chosen vintners. The event was designed with the idea of pairings for foods you may not necessarily associate with wines. Both beautiful and exotic, the plates were paired with such wines as: Cristom Willamette Valley Pinot Noir, Mt Jefferson Cuvee 2016, and M.A.N. 2016 Chenin Blanc Coastal Region from South Africa. The Fall Banquet, our November event, was held at Leows Ventana Canyon Resort in The Ventana Room; Tucson’s only five star restaurant. The membership was blown away by the offerings at this event. The menu was nothing short of superlative by head chef, Ken Harvey, and the sommelier, Chris Ried was nothing short of amazing both in his humor and knowledge. The food and pairings were right on point. This well attended event will stand out as a club favorite. new members: Darren Jones, Tony Ray Baker, Jon Fory, Linda Fulgenzi, Carolyn Bass, Ashley Drew, SaraBeth Roberson and Anthony Canchola. John Kovacik was honored for his continuing efforts through the years in keeping the local chapter going and Darren Jones was elevated to Commander. John Kovacik, who remains an integral part of our cadre as the treasurer, was given the title of Commander Emeritus by our Grand Commander. This was a fun and festive event with a light fairy garden night feel. The food and wine pairings were presented by Chris Ried, our favorite sommelier once again as this is his home base. We look forward to an eventful and fun new year in 2020.
