THE TEAM

Three years ago, we set out to build a true team of regionally diverse characters who posses the raw talent, motivation and personalities necessary to breakout in the world of snowboarding.

This creates a more relaxed ride.

the system has been so successful that w e h av e n o t h a d t o s w i t c h t o h y b r i d s t y l e designs, which add camber back into sections of the shape. This blended technique can i m p r ov e e d g e p e r f o r m a n c e , b u t n o t w i t h o u t s a c r i f i c i n g s o m e o f t h e s e a m l e s s f l avo r o f p u r e r o c k e r , w h i c h t h e s y s t e m p r e s e rv e s . we dev eloped the system around four interdependent design features that together create a single platform for all riding sty les and terrains:

PA R A B O L I C R O C K E R a “true-rocker” design based on the parabolic arc; a shape that gradually reduces the amount of rocker toward the tips. this ensures that the outside contact points are close enough to the snow to reengage when maximum edge control is needed: loaded turns, higher speeds, bigger landings. our parabolic rocker provides an additional layer of on-demand edge control, without sacrificing any true-rocker performance.

a sidecut design that creates four additional contact points under foot for significantly improved, more direct edge control. the new contacts also create heel and toe pivot points that make turning faster and more efficient. grip-tech allows us to offer a “true-rocker” profile with powerful edge control, and thus preserve the full range of associated performance benefits. grip-tech also allows riders with larger feet (up to us men’s 12) to ride standard width shapes.

to counter the loss of the “leaf spring” like effect inherent in camber designs, we turned to our signature power ply technology. by adding an additional structural layer to the board, in the form of a wood or bamboo topsheet, we significantly enhance board pop and return for much improved true-rocker performance. please note that the formula and poparazzi do not have the power ply.

by utilizing “twin” shapes that have centered stances, we ensure that riders position themselves directly over the grip-tech contact points. this allows them to effectively activate grip-tech’s edge performance. note: the need for built in setback for deep or mixed conditions is eliminated because of the way the system improves how a board floats over snow.

POWER PLYS Throughout history, wood and bamboo have been important building materials known for their versatility and strength. They also have a long association with quality skateboard and snowboard core construction. Arbor has taken their use further with the development of our Power Ply topsheet technology. Arbor Power Plys are produced using a range of sustainably sourced, natural wood and bamboo that have been sliced into ultra thin sheets. Once integrated into a snowboard, the Power Ply’s dense fibers structurally enhance the ride faor improved edge, turn, and ollie performance, while its varied natural grain create a one-of-a-kind look.

During construction, the Power Ply topsheet becomes impregnated with resin, which locks the natural fibers in place in the same way that resin works with glass or carbon fiber. This process effectively turns the Power Ply into a 3rd composite layer. As a result, we are able to build lighter, stronger boards that are more lively and responsive. Arbor’s de-cambered rocker designs regain critical pop while our camber models retain their camber far longer than traditional designs. In keeping with our mission, the Power Ply technology also allows Arbor to reduce our reliance on chemically treated fiberglass and petroleum-based resin by up to 20%.
