candinavian Open S Blommeröd B-Show THE BLOMMERÖD INTERNATIONAL “B” SHOW was held on the weekend of July 4-5 in perfect summer weather on Saturday, and in torrential rain on Sunday afternoon! This show’s judging team has been very popular. The following week, the same team, with the exception of Anna Stojanowska, was center ring to judge the Wilhelmsborg “A” show in Denmark. Two weeks later, they turned up again at the Polish national show. Greater variation in judges would surely be appreciated by both spectators and participants. Perhaps ECAHO should partake to a greater extent in the choice of judges, as many seem to lack the ability to say “no” to an assignment. This year there was a change in the championship award system. Instead of the usual champion and reserve, there were three champions — gold, silver, and bronze. At a time when the number of show entries is decreasing, ECAHO creates more champions! But perhaps that is the idea, to attract more badly needed entries to the showring. The turnout at Blommeröd was very good, with 120 entries. Two geldings came forward to be judged on Saturday morning. The winner was almost a foregone conclusion, Piraten by Endel out of Poreka, a beautiful, typey horse who was gelded a couple of years ago because of infertility. A great pity, but a beautiful gelding, Piraten scored 87.33 points. He is owned by Lillemor Antonsson. The yearling colt class attracted 12 entries. The judges, using the 20-point system, were Anna Stojanowska from Poland, Marianne Tengstedt from Denmark, Peter Upton from Great Britain, and Gianmarco Aragno from Italy.
