Syrios family has begun its activity in heating sector since the half of the last century. It was just after the war when the two brothers, Constantine and Stavros Syrios, listened for the heating requirements of those difficult years and began timidly to make their first wooden stoves, initially by using poor means and hand tools and later with more modern production tools.

After 1990, Andreas Syrios, the follower of this tradition, revived the company, modernized its philosophy and structure while he improved its products. The first products that he produced were stoves made entirely of cast iron and later, in 1996, he began the production of wood fireplaces made only of cast iron or of cast iron in combination with steel. Nowadays, the company’s products occupy a leading position in the Greek market and the brand name Syrios has become identical with the innovative quality and absolute reliability in heating sector.

ΒRITISH PSYCHOLOGICAL SOCIETY ACCREDITS THE ΜSc HEALTH PSYCHOLOGY OFFERED AT CITY UNITY COLLEGE IN COLLABORATION WITH CARDIFF METROPOLITAN UNIVERSITY The postgraduate programme MSc Health Psychology offered at City Unity College, Athens, in collaboration with Cardiff Metropolitan University the first postgraduate programme outside the UK to be accredited by British Psychological Society (BPS), the representative body for psychology and psychologists in the UK. The accreditation event was successfully held in the premises of City Unity College in Athens with a panel of visitors from the BPS in attendance. The panel, after meetings with academic staff, students and management members of both City Unity College and Cardiff Metropolitan University proceeded to accredit the programme.

The BPS accreditation is important for Psychology programmes and students alike. It is aimed at getting the best out of programmes, through promoting psychology as a science, ensuring quality and providing solution-focused support, and gives graduates the opportunity to gain Graduate and/ or Chartered Membership of the Society.

MEMBERS’ NEWS Algean Property: More confidence in the property sector in 2015 On the 09th of September, 2015, George Elias Eliades Managing Partner of Algean Property, shared his expertise and experience about the high end real estate market in Greece and its major growth possibilities, with Al Arabiya TV. The leading news station in the Arab world. (Al Arabiya part A, Al Arabiya part B) Having spent a considerable amount of time in market research. Investors are now ready to move forward in investing on high end properties. This explains, as Mr. Eliades states, the increase in incoming requests to the company, Algean Property, following the Bailout agreement in August.

While, in general terms, property prices have fallen by 30-40% and in some cases even lower, holiday homes in prime holiday locations retain their current value due to strong interest of holiday rentals.

Branded destinations such as, Mykonos and Santorini are in very high demand, especially from EU residents. In contrast, investors from the Middle East have focused their interest on the Athenian Riviera and Porto Heli. Other sought after destinations, according to the latest estimates, are Crete, Rhodes and Halkidiki.

There has also been a considerable increase in requests coming from US citizens, mainly because of the strengthening US Dollar. The decline in Greece’s real estate prices over the last five years has also created vast investment opportunities and thus a major contributing factor to the growing US originated interest.

Mr Eliades, also, supported the position that in order for the foreign investors to enter the market, the State needs to address the need of a more stable legal and tax framework.
