Foreword

T

he Arab-Hellenic Chamber of Commerce & Development (AHCCD) in Athens, being one of the entities that work under the umbrella of the League of Arab States, is one of the most important Chambers working with The Arab countries. It works in conformity with the General Principles Governing Arab – Foreign Joint Chambers. It also falls under the auspices of the General Union of Arab Chambers, and the Arab Ambassadors Corp in Athens, Greece. It is one of the most effective and dynamic Arab - Foreign Joint Chambers.

It constitutes a bridge between the Arab countries and Greek Business communities, as well as a catalyst for bilateral relations between the Arab countries and the Hellenic Republic, Since its inception, AHCCD endeavored to promote economic relations between the two parties. It has taken major steps in strengthening trade, business and exchange between the Arab countries and the Hellenic Republic. This partnership has proven to be effective in face of the economic challenges faced by Greece and the Arab countries. It played an important role in setting the goals that the two parties wish to achieve.

AHCCD, is an outstanding platform for dialogue between the Arab countries and the Hellenic Republic. It is a forum for exchange of views and experiences. It is the only available gathering to conduct discussions in economics, investment, trade, finance, industry, and all issues of mutual interest.

Its overall objective is to strengthen economic exchange, to encourage trade and investment, to create employment opportunities and realize sustainable development. It is an opportunity that allows both parties to voice their interests and reflect upon their concerns, as well as, initiate cooperation actions. This forum enables us to discover new dimensions for economic cooperation and to outline future plans for better coordination and cooperation. The AHCCD rally for preserving the outstanding position of the economies of the Arab countries and the Hellenic Republic in the world.

Let me congratulate AHCCD for their accomplishments and success. I am sure that their determination to achieve prosperity and progress, and the strong purpose they uphold, is enough motivation for continuing their path towards fortifying economic relations between the Arab countries and the Hellenic Republic. I am certain they will continue to inspire other cooperation processes and will continue to invest in this hard work.

reece and the Arab countries have historically been enjoying excellent relations on all levels, whether political, economic, social or cultural. Over the past years, both partners have been witnessing remarkable growth in trade, investment and financial exchanges. Such a strategic economic partnership between Greece and the Arab region has been beneficial for their economies and people.

The Arab-Hellenic Economic Forum represents the convenient and effective platform that gathers annually the private sector of the Arab countries and Greece, for the purpose of exchanging information, investment, commercial and trade opportunities, according to common interests and mutual benefits We have high hopes that this forum shall reach a stage where specific and mutual investment projects will be discussed between the Arab and Greece parties, knowing that the Union of Arab Chambers spares no effort to strengthen the cooperation between the Arab countries and Greece.

The Forum which will be held under the title “Unleashing the ArabHellenic Potentials”, will gather very distinguished and renowned speakers on the various aspects of economic exchanges between Greece and Arab countries, and will discuss in depth the opportunities and challenges presented in various economic sectors such as Maritime and Port Industries and Services, Construction, Building Materials and Energy, Investment Opportunities in Real Estate and Tourism, and Food-Processing Industry. This in addition to key emerging sectors.

The Union of Arab Chambers which comprises the chambers of commerce, industry and agriculture from twenty two Arab countries, and joint Arab-Foreign chambers, is very glad to partner with the Arab-Hellenic Chamber of Commerce and Development in this Forum.

This Chamber has clearly demonstrated its ability and capability in promoting the Arab-Greek business relationship by bringing business communities closer together to better understand each other’s needs, and to establish the required synergies which are most likely to achieve the business objectives of the two parties and their respective economies.

T

he Chamber has recently launched its initiative on “Transfer of Technology and Know-How to the Arab World” which was open to all Greek companies, members and non-members alike.

The response received was overwhelming, as a surge of companies expressed their interest to either expand their businesses in a form of a joint venture, or provide turn-key projects to the interested Arab counterparts. The information and details of these companies have been published in an exclusive Directory and distributed, in both hard copy and electronic format, across the Arab world.

This exercise along with the convening of the “5th Arab–Hellenic Economic Forum” in Athens on November 29-30, are in alignment with our continuous efforts to enhance Arab-Greek cooperation on every business level.

In this year’s Forum, we have focused on Shipping and Port Industries and its potential and opportunities in Greece and the Arab world. We believe that the Arab countries can benefit by Greece’s expertise and its experience acquired by holding a leading role in Shipping and Port Industries, particularly now, when some Arab countries have been making positive strides in this direction.

We, therefore, strongly believe that both sides can explore areas of common interest and embark on a new path of close cooperation and partnership. It is worth mentioning that the Greek companies have successfully managed to establish their competitive edge in most of the Arab markets. This has been achieved, in our opinion, owing to several factors, the most important being that Greek business leaders have been approaching the Arab market with a positive attitude and ensured that they have been providing quality products at reasonable prices. We can only hope that this trend will continue and this Forum will not only provide another platform for further enhancement of both sides’ relations, but will also contribute to the creation of new partnerships.

We would like to thank the League of Arab States, the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Economy and Development and the Union of Arab Chambers for their auspices of this Forum.

The Chamber The Arab-Hellenic Chamber of Commerce & Development is a non-profit organization established by Greek Law No. 990, on December 1st, 1979, followed by Presidential Decree No. 421 of April 1981, and operates under the umbrella of the Ministry of Economy, Development and Tourism, in coordination with the Union of Arab Chambers, in cooperation with the Council of Arab Ambassadors accredited to Greece and with all the Arab Federations and Chambers of Commerce. Its Head Office is located in Athens, Greece. The scope of its business activities covers Greece and the whole of the Arab world.

Objective The objective of the Chamber is to develop and promote economic and trade relations between Greeks and Arabs in all business sectors, mainly Construction, Industry, Agriculture, Energy, Technology, Tourism and Education.

Primary Goals  The Arab-Hellenic Chamber works towards developing new Joint Ventures and partnerships between the two sides and encouraging the flow of investments between Greece and the Arab World.  It also works alongside Federations and Chambers of Commerce towards elevating the trade balance between Greeks and Arabs.  Based on its contacts, information database and networking expertise, the Chamber works towards assisting in bringing the Greek and Arab business communities together, through exchange of information, experience and know-how.

Activities  Organizing well-planned B2B meetings between Greek and Arab businessmen, activities which are complimented with the publication of informative brochures for each delegation involved.  Holding and co-organizing business events, Forums, Conferences, Fairs, Exhibitions and Workshops in Greece and in the Arab world.

Publishing trade bulletins, reports, statistical data and related economic and trade activities between Greece and the Arab world.  Providing update information to Greek and Arab businesses on the existing business opportunities from both sides through the publication of regular bulletins.  Hosting and participating in related cultural activities and cross-cultural workshops.

Services  Publishing periodical reports and bulletins in English, Greek and Arabic on the latest business opportunities and news.  Attending to the members’ requests for updated data, contacts and information about conducting business in Greece and the Arab world.  Checking and reviewing trade certificates, export documentation to the Arab world as well as undertaking the translation of related trade documents.

Qatar Chamber is one of the oldest Chambers of Commerce in the GCC Countries. Having been established in 1963 by virtue of Law No (4) of the year 1963 dated on 16/2/1963, since then it is consider “House of Traders” in Qatar.

The Chamber’s Competences

1- Collect, arrange and publish information and statistics of importance to everyone working in the field of commerce, industry and agriculture; provide the government with required data, information and opinions related to commercial, industrial and agricultural issues and disclose the commercial and industrial customs.

4- Designate experts from among the commerce, industry or agriculture masters to study and consider the commercial, industrial or agricultural issues, to examine the disputed goods and to ratify the experts’ testimonies in this regard.

5- Organize and establish permanent commercial, industrial and agricultural fairs, museums, souks (markets), schools and institutes as well as other facilities concerned with the industry, commerce and agriculture within the laws and regulations in force. The government shall be entitled to entrust the chamber with the management of its facilities and institutes.

Jordan Chamber of Commerce is a nonprofit institution that serves its members in all economic, commercial and service sectors. The Chamber has also received many of Arab and international economic and commercial delegations; played a major role in holding symposia, workshops, training session and bilateral meetings for those visiting delegations, all of which created opportunities to introduce the members of the delegations to the atmospheres of investments and available potentials in the Kingdom, as well as to familiarize them with the laws, legislations, regulations and instructions regulating the investment, and the economic and commercial activity within the Kingdom.

The Chamber has also contributed to holding bilateral meetings between the members of the Arab and foreign visiting delegations and Jordanian businessmen, entrepreneurs, investors and company owner’s counterparts.

At the same time, the Jordan Chamber of Commerce had signed several protocols and agreements on cooperation with the Arab and foreign chambers of commerce and industry; it had also signed several agreements on creation of joint business councils with those states, and held several meetings for such councils within Jordan and abroad.

The Suez Canal Economic Zone Foreword In August 2014, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi launched the new Suez Canal Expansion project, a mega development to construct a new 72-kilometres long Canal which will allow for two-way traffic in parts of the Suez Canal. The Suez Canal Economic Zone represents a new chapter in the economic development of Egypt. Created under Law No. 83 of 2002 and as amended in 2015, the Suez Canal Economic Zone is governed by the General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone: an autonomous body with executive powers of regulation and approval including the full authority to oversee all areas of operation, staffing, control over budgets, funding, development of partnerships with developers and business facilitation services. The Suez Canal Economic Zone will apply a new investor friendly business environment that will be a blueprint for future development nationally. There will be a genuine one stop shop with all critical elements deployed. Simple declarative investment registration systems with streamlined investment approvals, granting of import and export licenses as well as accelerated on-site customs inspection procedures will be available. Similarly, secondary permits and authorizations relating to land, building, labor, health and safety will be addressed directly by the Suez Canal Economic Zone authority whose efficiency will be enhanced by partnerships with key stakeholders including government ministries, private sector representatives, be it developers or investors in the zone, or affected communities and community groups and certainly international development partners.

The Suez Canal Economic Zone will not just help first-time investors; it will support companies to expand and grow more, and therefore create the thousands of jobs that will put Egyptian people into productive work.

The Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT) is the backbone of maritime education and training in the region of Middle East and Africa through its Maritime Center of Excellence.

As a major contributor to maritime transportation in the area, the AASTMT is dedicated to the cause of qualifying marine personnel both at sea and ashore by focusing on the latest maritime sciences developed in the various fields. Introduction to Aqaba Port, Jordan 1- Aqaba Port Authority was established in 1952 by a royal decree and took its present name (The Ports Corporation, TPC) in 1978. TPC is a governmental body with an independent character responsible for establishing, developing, maintaining and operating port activities (receiving of ships, handling and storing cargo).

2- The Port consists of three zones along the Jordanian coastline:

● The Main Port zone.

● The Containers Port zone.

● The Industrial Port zone.

The Main Port Zone Located close to the town of Aqaba It comprises (12) berths with a total length (2120) meters. These berths are used for handling general cargo, grain, phosphate export, RoRo, and lighter traffic. These berths serve vessels of up to (70,000) tons displacement with a draft of up to 14.4 meters.

The Container Port Zone Located (5) km. south of the main port consists of: Mo’ta Berth.

Prior to that, he was Head of the Board of Directors of the Egyptian Authority for Maritime Navigational Safety. He has served his country in the military in various posts and countries. He holds a Bachelor’s in Maritime Studies, a Master’s degree with which he obtained the title of Staff Rear Admiral. He has attended numerous military and professional maritime courses and seminars. He has traveled frequently and participated in related maritime conferences, workshops and forums.

Speaker Mrs. Amany K. Essawi Advisor to the Chairman for International Relations General Authority for Suez Canal Economic Zone Egypt Amany’s main role as an Advisor is to solicit and develop the needed cooperation programs that are pivotal to support the Authority in transforming the region into a world-class global logistics hub and industrial processing center.

Previously she had worked as an Advisor to the Minister and Deputy Director of the Local Development Reform Unit that tackles poverty alleviation and social and economic local development. Prior to that, Amany was the Minister’s Assistant for International Relations at the Ministry of Planning, Monitoring and Administrative Reform, liaising and coordinating communications with the Ministry’s counterparts in other countries, international and regional organizations, funding agencies, training institutions and governmental bodies.

Amany has played an active role as Egypt’s national coordinator of the MENAOECD Governance Programme. She assumed several managerial positions in several hotel chains and she was elected as a Board Member of the Gender – Diversity and Governance around the Mediterranean Network. Mrs. Amany holds a BA in Mass Communications with high honors from the American University in Cairo and a Master’s Degree from the same university in Public Relations.

In his banking carrier (1991-1998) he served as Vice President of Credit Lyonnais Shipping Group and Head of European Shipping finance activities and as Head of Greek, Indian and Middle East Shipping. In 1999 he founded XRTC Business Consultants and since then he has been the Managing Director of the Company. XRTC acted as Commercial Representative of the French Banks Credit Lyonnais (up to 2004) and Natixis (up to 2008). Since 2009, XRTC has been working closely with the Chinese ship finance market. In 2011 XRTC signed a Financial Consultancy Agreement with China Development Bank. XRTC has won the Greek Shipping Financier of the Year by Lloyd’s List Greek Shipping Award 2010. Since 1976, Mr. Constantinidis has been responsible for the General Directorship and day-to-day management of various construction projects, mainly port works and projects for Environmental Protection.

He is a Corresponding Member of the Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and Member of the Technical Chamber of Greece. He is the author of three publications concerning matters of Port Construction works and Coastal Engineering.

Speaker Mr. Charalampos Simantonis President Hellenic Shortsea Shipowners Association Greece Charalampos Simantonis is the President of the Hellenic Shortsea Shipowners Association since 2012 and President and Managing Director of MedFerry Co. He studied maritime economics in the Instituto Univeritario Navale di Napoli and has been active in the shipping since 1980.

In 1989 he established his first shipping with passenger vessels and since 1992 he has been active in tramp shipping with shortsea vessels. Mr. Simantonis is also member of the Board of the Hellenic Chamber of Shipping and of Seamen Pension Fund (NAT), as well as member of RINA’s Ship-owners committee and BCA Academic committee.

BIM and 5D Methodology

Building Information Model is a data – rich, object – oriented and intelligent digital representation of the facility, from which views and data appropriate to various users’ needs can be extracted and analysed through the lifecycle of the project to generate information that can be used to make decisions and improve the process of delivering the facility.

CCC BIM Centres are comprised of engineers and IT professionals with extensive experience in supporting projects varying in size and complexity. The projects portfolio includes roads, ports and airports, infrastructures, high quality buildings, etc. This entity offers complete solutions from requirement analysis, budgeting, selection of technologies, implementation, follow-up and training.

It is envisioned that the BIM based project controls solution is capable of capturing, managing and delivering most of the information, components and processes related to a facility during its full lifecycle. This is an ultimate goal for all industry partners; the following diagram illustrates this vision.

Currently there are three main operating BIM Centres located in Athens, Egypt and Palestine with a total of 85 employees (30 in Athens, 35 in Egypt and 30 in Palestine). Moreover, we have a BIM centre established in USA under Morganti (CCC sister company) and a BIM Academy in Athens where professional engineers are trained on CCC’s BIM procedures and workflows.

Currently there are 110 BIM engineers are located in projects around the world.

In addition to their main role in BIM production, these four Centres are leading the development of standards, procedures & policies as well as providing training for the new BIM Engineers.

Background

The Institute of Energy for South East Europe (IENE) was founded in 2003 by a group of independent professionals and business executives active in the energy sector of the region. The Institute, which has its headquarters in Athens, Greece, is a nongovernmental and nonprofit regional organization.

The founding of the Institute came in response to the strong integration process and rapid economic development experienced by most countries in SE Europe in the late 1990’s and early 2000’s in their move away from centralized type administrative systems to open market economies following the collapse of the Soviet Union. In addition to the pressures for market liberalization the region had to cope, and is still coping, with some major reconstruction issues following the break-up of Yugoslavia (SFR) and the establishment in its place of various independent states.

IENE’s Mission is to promote a broader understanding of the key energy issues in the region and provide a suitable platform for the exchange of views and information, open to professionals, companies, stakeholders and others who are actively involved in the energy sector.

IENE’s Vision is to establish itself as one of the leading energy think tanks in the region and at the same time develop a highly credible and worthwhile range of services covering research, assessment studies, sectorial surveys, educational activities, event organisation and networking. These services to be offered primarily to its members, but also to government and industry and other important stakeholders. As part of its vision IENE is committed to developing high level research and analysis capabilities, with the involvement and in cooperation with leading energy experts from all different countries of the region. The timely dissemination of information and analysis is an integral aspect of IENE’s work with the aim of facilitating the understanding of central policy and complex technical issues thus helping to promote public debate. The establishment of serious and dispassionate dialogue on SE Europe’s key energy and environmental issues is seen as part of a democratic policy making process to which IENE is fully committed.

Goals and Objectives

The Institute’s prime purpose is to constitute a permanent forum where energy issues can be discussed, analyzed, reformulated and presented to the scientific and technological communities, but also to the various social, productive and financial entities, as well as to institutional bodies, in unbiased, objective and credible terms. This is guaranteed by IENE’s scientific standing, its managerial rectitude and the transparency of all its operations.

IENE’s brief covers the whole range of energy applications including Oil and Gas, (upstream, midstream and downstream), Power Generation (thermal and nuclear power generation, hydroelectricity), Electricity Transmission and Distribution, natural gas (transmission and distribution), Renewable Energy Sources (solar, wind, hydro, biomass, geothermal) and Energy Efficiency (buildings, industry and trnasportantion).

One of IENE’s key objectives is to participate in the formulation of energy policies, both at national and international level, within the broader region of South-East Europe. These policies need to focus on rationalizing the production and utilization of both conventional and renewable sources of energy. Thus IENE aims to contribute towards the implementation of European Union’s sustainable development strategy that combines social and economic development with environmental protection.

The Institute aspires to play a significant role in providing public opinion with factual and unbiased information on subjects concerning energy, the environment and sustainable development. GREECE RENEWABLE ENERGY FUTURE INFRASTRUCTURE INVESTMENT OPPORTUNITIES Greece is located in a region with outstanding renewable energy potential! It has the highest solar potential in the northern Mediterranean coast and the EU, and the 2nd Highest Wind potential in Europe! Currently, it can support approximately 15% of its electrical energy consumption by renewables and the target is to increase this to 18.5% in the next 3 years. Projects that have already been announced or planned amount to an increase of renewable energy sources by 11,500 MW until 2020.

The vast majority of those projects are Wind Power generation parks, a technology that has been lagging behind target installations due to the explosive reduction in the installation cost of photovoltaic parks and the resulting shift towards solar photovoltaic power generation. However, the responsible bodies are deliberating the introduction of additional solar photovoltaic plants in the near future.

New projects will be predominantly built under an IPP framework with contractually agreed energy selling prices and using the BOO/BOT models. This realization, as well as the need to reduce the dependency of the Greek power system on fossil fuels and coal, makes this country a perfect vehicle for investors that aspire to participate on the mature EU energy market and operate in a stable political environment. The cost of conventional energy in Greece is still high enough to ensure a profitable proposition for investors in the energy sector.

GREECE RENEWABLE ENERGY SPECIALIZED PERSONNEL & KNOW-HOW Greece has an existing base of approximately 5,000 experienced Engineers that have worked in renewable energy projects for more than a decade. In fact, the renewables industry before 2013 occupied in excess of 15,000 employees of various specializations. With the sudden renouncement by the State of FIT-based projects in 2013, most of this existing workforce has moved abroad or is otherwise occupied in Greece. Several high-level engineers are employed by Tier-1 EU and Asia-based manufacturers, as well as EPC companies throughout the EU, UK and Asia.

There is also an existing base of manufacturers specializing in aluminum solar photovoltaic mounting systems that has been equipped for high volume production that has remained close to idle for the past 2-3 years and would be an attractive target for cooperation agreements of suitable type with partners located in the Middle East and Africa.

It is important to realize that this personnel has designed, engineered and installed close to 10 GW of renewable energy plants, which is comparable to the entire renewable installations in all countries of the MENA region.

GREECE RENEWABLE ENERGYFUNDING & COOPERATION AVENUES The EU and several of its financial institutions, as well as other international and national bodies have created significant facilities that enable the cooperative installation of projects as well as the transfer of knowledge and best practices to the Arab world and African countries. Although National bodies and institutions will need to be contacted through the relevant Chambers of Commerce, there are at least 2 avenues that can point interested parties from the Arab world to appropriate partners and or practices.

First, as always, EU National Contact Points in all EU Member States can assist you in locating potential co-funded development or E&D projects. Costis Stambolis Executive Director and Deputy Chairman Institute for Energy of SE Europe (IENE) Greece Mr. Stambolis is the founder and managing editor of Energia.gr, Greece’s foremost energy portal in operation since 2001. He is also a founding partner (2003) of the Institute for Energy of SE Europe (IENE) while he currently serves as its Executive Director and Deputy Chairman.

Over the last 40 years he has carried out worldwide a wide range of projects in the energy field as an independent energy consultant focusing on solar building technology, regional planning, natural gas and energy market analysis. GREECE: INVESTMENT PROSPECTS 2016 NOVEMBER 2016 At a time when investors globally are looking back at the traditional markets of Europe enjoying political stability and limited risk, Greece offers a unique proposition that combines the advantages of a developed country, with the opportunities for growth usually associated with emerging economies.

Greece presents a unique investment proposition, as it incorporates:

be renewed every five (5) years on the condition that the interested party maintains ownership of the property. ● Food and Beverage: The sector offers investors a plethora of attractive opportunities. It is characterized by a privileged environment with low operating costs and abundant raw materials of high quality. Meanwhile, a general shift towards a low calorie, cholesterol free and vitamin-rich diet throughout the western world favors the Greek Mediterranean diet and Greece’s traditional agricultural products. Furthermore, Greek companies have already established a long-reaching production and sales network that offers access to the emerging growth markets of SE and Eastern Europe, whilst the F&B industry is populated by a highly experienced and welleducated labor force. ● ICT: The ICT sector offers several opportunities of investment in high-end, value added services with a global reach. Greece also has the potential to develop in the “middle market” of medical tourism, which is a new fast growing and lucrative sector, during the last decade. ● Energy: The deregulated energy market in Greece provides plenty of opportunities for companies wishing to participate in the production, transmission and distribution of natural gas and electricity. According to the National Energy Plan, overall investments needed in the sector are estimated to 22.2 billion euro for the 2010-2020 timeframe, from which 16.5 shall address new RES capacity. On fossil fuels, Greece will spend 2.1 billion euro for new «clean coal» (lignite in our case) power plants while 3.3 billion will be invested in natural gas facilities. An additional budget of 5 billion euro will be needed for grid reinforcement and interconnections. Also, the petroleum market in Greece is evolving rapidly and the potential for Greece to develop its hydrocarbon resources is gaining momentum. ● Logistics: Greece stands on the crossroad of three continents (Europe, Asia, Africa), a strategic node for the development of transportation in the greater region. According to a recent study the Logistics sector in Greece accounts for almost 10% of Greece’s GDP, supports economic activity

and facilitates the country’s extrovert profile, through the acceleration of international exports. With maritime transport accounting for 80 per cent of global trade by volume, Greece’s geographical position as a gateway between East and West render it highly attractive for investments in logistics and transport, while the increasing trade flows in the region benefit from an efficient and cost-effective location. Privatisations currently in progress in this sector also provide new opportunities for investments.

‘Golden Visa Program’ for Real Estate Owners & Investors During the last three years and following an international trend, Greece introduced a residence permits’ program for real estate owners, the value of which exceeds €250,000, adopting a friendlier stance towards third country citizens who wish to own real estate property in Greece.

The program, known as Greece’s ‘Golden Visa Program’, is currently one of the most competitive in Europe, offering plenty of benefits that include permanent residence to third country nationals who possess property in Greece. Moreover, another flexible and fast procedure for non- EU/ EEA foreign investors who wish to obtain an entry visa and a residence permit for the purpose of investment activity in Greece has been set up, provided that the total cost of the investment exceeds €250,000.

Residence permits can be also granted to company executives involved in the implementation and/or the operation of the investment project. Up to 10 permits may be issued for an investment project (investors and executives) depending on the investment scale (see table below).

The investment activity may be implemented through the construction of new facilities (greenfield investments) or business acquisitions, restructuring as well as expansion of current activities (brownfield investments), provided that it has a positive impact on the national economy.

Residence permits offered to property-owners, investors and executives can be renewed every five years, as long as they maintain their position in relation to property ownership or the investment, and the investment continues to be active. In addition, they may be accompanied by their family members - spouse, unmarried children up to the age of 21, and the first degree ascendants of the spouses - who are also beneficiaries of the right to enter and obtain a residence permit.

Enterprise Greece (www.enterprisegreece.gov.gr) is the official agency of the Greek State, under the supervision of the Ministry of Economy, Development & Tourism (www.mindev.gov.gr), to promote investment in Greece, exports from Greece, and make Greece more attractive as an international business partner.

Mr. Ntigrintakis has a professional career in corporate communications, online marketing and media tourism are among the few fields of his expertise. Since 2006 he has organized and co-organized workshops like the Greek Tourism Workshop (Riyadh, Lebanon, Abu Dhabi), the Greek Medical Tourism (Moscow) and the Greek Tourism & Property (Moscow, London).

He has graduated from Athens University with a Bachelors Degree in Economics and he holds a Master’s Degree from University of Stirling.

He is Board Member of the Higher Investment Authority at the Governorate of Beheira, Alexandria and Matrouh. He is also a Board Member of several professional associations, all related to investment affairs.

His Excellency holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport.

Speaker Mr. Velissarios Dotsis CEO Enterprise Greece Greece Mr. Velissarios Dotsis assumed his duties as CEO of Enterprise Greece in April 2015.

From 1998 to 2015, he has worked in the private sector in various high level management positions. He is a seasoned Business Development Executive with extensive experience in international sales and business development.

At his various positions, he has led the capture management efforts, won contracts and carried out operations startup activities. He has developed and coordinated highly motivated teams from multiple domains, including international networks of sales executives and consultants, in order to achieve goals of growth and profitability. He served as a BoD member and General Director in companies abroad.

From 1997-2003, he completed a PhD courses program in NTUA and worked at the EURATOM — NTUA Association as a Research Associate for the European Nuclear Fusion Program.

Mr. Velissarios Dotsis holds a degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA).

Speaker Mr. Elias Khlat Consultant in Development and Public Relations Lebanon Besides being specialized in image related fields, Elias Khlat has been a social activist in Tripoli during the past 30 years of his life, not only by lobbying for causes in direct relation with heritage and culture but also as a humanitarian and relief activist during the times of clashes and had led many non-violent initiatives during the past seven years in Tripoli. He managed a school of tourism in Lebanon for 10 years where he taught Marketing and Tourism Policies. Today, he is a “Consultant in Development and Public Relations”, Founder and President of “Tripoli Foundation” (NGO) as well as the “Tripoli Film Festival”. He was born in 1965 in Tripoli, Lebanon.

Speaker Prof. Manos Konsolas Dodecanese Member of Parliament in Greece Head of Tourism Policy of Nea Demokratia Associate Professor of the Aegean University Greece Manos Konsolas was born in Karpathos.

He is a Dodecanese Member of Parliament of NEA DEMOKRATIA, the liberalconservative political party in Greece and the Head of Tourism Policy of NEA DEMOKRATIA. He is, also, Associate Professor in School of Humanities of the Aegean University.

In the elections of May 6, 2012, was elected Dodecanese Member of Parliament for the first time and, in the elections that followed on 17 June, reelected. In the elections of January 25, 2015, he was re-elected Dodecanese Member of Parliament.

He is a member of the Standing Committee on Educational Affairs, the Special Permanent Committee of Hellenes Abroad, the Special Standing Committee on Road Safety and the Committee on the Library of Parliament. During his tenure in Hellenic Parliament was elected Secretary of the Standing Committee on Educational Affairs, Secretary to the Special Permanent Committee on Greeks Abroad and was a member of the Special Committee for Research and Technology, the Committee on Parliamentary Library, the National Defense Committee and the Economic Affairs Committee of Hellenic Parliament.

He was also President of the Youth Parliament.

Speaker Mr. Dimitris Tryfonopoulos Secretary-General The Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) Greece Dimitris Tryfonopoulos was born in Athens, Greece. His 24 years of service with Greek and multinational companies of the private sector included responsibility for portfolios at senior and senior executive level. His expertise is mainly focused on the Banking and Insurance sector, as well as on the automobile & cosmetics market.

He has been appointed as the Secretary-General of The Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) and took office on 1 November 2015.

He holds an MBA degree (Master in Business Administration) from the Louisville Kentucky University, USA. The Secretary- General speaks English and French.

He is married and he has one daughter.

Moderator Mr. Charalampos Floridis Chairman of the Board of Directors Floridis S.A. Greece Mr. Charalampos Floridis was born in Thessaloniki, in 1960. He followed the steps of his family, a third-generation family involved in the meat industry. So, he started his successful trajectory in the Meat market sector in 1980 with his brother Ioannis.

In 2010, a new proprietary factory was created by FLORIDIS SA, covering a total surface of 10,500 m2, equipped with the most modern machinery and a 2,500-ton storage area.

As for his personal life, his greatest happiness is his family: his adorable wife Nikoletta and his children, Konstantina, Marianna and Konstantinos. He is always trying to have free time to devote to his family, passing along pleasant moments.

H.E. Mr. Yiannis Tsironis Alternate Minister of Rural Development and Food Greece Yiannis Tsironis was born in Athens in 1958. He is married and a father of three children. Yiannis Tsironis has studied Chemistry and was very active in the students’ political movement in the late 70’s -early 80’s.

Realizing that political ecology was the only radical alternative he became a founding member of the EKO - “Alternative Ecological Movement” of Athens in 1983. He remains active in the green movement since then, mainly in the fields of education and training.

He is a founding member of the “Oikologoi Prasinoi” (Ecologists Greens), where he is currently an elected member of the party’s Pan-Hellenic Council as well as the editor of the party newspaper “Prasini Politiki” (Green Politics).

He was the Greek delegate at the Council of the E.F.G.P. / European Green Party from 1999 until 2006.

He has been the party’s male Spokesperson in 2011 and the party’s coordinator since late 2013 until his appointment as a minister in January 2015.

From January 2015 until October 2016 was Alternate Minister of Environment and Energy Ministry.

Mr. Tzikas was elected as Member of the Board of Directors of the Arab-Hellenic Chamber in September 2016.

He holds a BA of Arts with a Major in History from Bowdoin College, Maine U.S.A. He was born in 1950.

Speaker Mr. Thanassis Skordas Mr. Thanassis Skordas Chairman of the Board, Selonda Aquaculture S.A. & Former Deputy Minister, Ministry of Development & Competitiveness Greece Athanassios Skordas holds a bachelor degree in Economics from the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB), with a major in International Economics Relations. He has worked as an insurance agent and at the same time he took an active part in the foundation and operation of financial and insurance companies. He has been a seminar leader on sales and insurance work organization at the Greek Insurance Studies Institute and at the Financial Studies Institute.

He has been elected as President of the Pan-Hellenic Insurance Consultants Association from 2000 to March 2004. From 2004 to 2009 he served as Secretary General for Consumer Affairs at the Ministry of Development, Secretary General of the Region of Sterea Ellada and Secretary General at Ministry of Finance of Greece. From the summer of 2012 since the summer of 2014 he served as Deputy Minister at the Ministry of Development & Competitiveness, responsible for Trade and Industry. He is currently Chairman of the Board of the “Selonda Aquaculture SA” Company which is listed on the Athens Stock Exchange. He was born in 1965, he is married and father of two children.
