My thesis will aim at providing a working research and psychological treatment facility for the two estranged social classes of refugees and victims and attempt to bridge the gap of discrimination between the foreigners and the indigenous people ie the citizens. The premise encompasses mainly the refugee settlements in and around the New Delhi region and catering to their needs. The war victims can serve a transitionary period in the centre and then continue their journey towards their home.

The initial stages involved basic restructuring of words and creating a compilation along with using specific fonts and playing with their highlights, boldness and opacity. I went for a monochrome theme to better understand the impact of boldness and opacity of a word along with its size.

The final creation involved positioning the word Refugee at the centre as the thesis revolves around the psychology and settlements of migrants and then placing all the other connected words according to hierarchy in a spiral from ‘Refugee’.

Poster making involved further delving into the meaning and positioning of words and creating visuals by just using words. Here I have highlighted War, Poverty, Religion, Crisis who stand tall above all the problems that refugees face and even if they crawl out of it they are faced with discrimination highlighted in red.

Through image making one can learn the impact that various photographs or ‘images’ make on the mind without using any words. Keeping my site Delhi, I have juxtaposed the refugees and their living arrangements together in the form of the iconic Red fort and above that I’ve subtly addressed the psychology with which my thesis is dealing with.

Further developing on that, I have brought forth the psychological element no longer lingering in the background and keeping in mind the iconic Red colour of the Red Fort I have arranged the cutouts in a more haphazard manner while creating a harmony and mentioning the main years when Delhi experienced major refugee intakes, 1970s and 1990s

The exercise concluded with me achieving a finer, merged version of the previous two edgier versions. Delhi with it’s iconic Red stands forth while all the other images fade into the monochrome, a glimpse of the Delhi map is also seen. But further it leads to the colour of refugees who have been purposefully left out from the monochrome so as to create a lasting impact.
