In the bustling metropolis of Mumbai, where urban landscapes continually evolve, the potential for innovative mixed-use development becomes both a challenge and an opportunity. This thesis embarks on a journey to redefine urban living by proposing a visionary mixed-use development on a strategically positioned site in Charkop. Nestled at the heart of Charkop’s main junction, encompassing the diverse sectors, an industrial zone, Charkop Gaon, and the Sahyadri Housing Colony, the site presents a canvas for transformative urban intervention.

Charkop is a locality in the suburb of Kandivali (West), North Mumbai, INDIA. It is the one of the oldest localities in Kandivali, comprising nine residential sectors. It also has an industrial sector.

The Chelsea Union Park Senior Housing Community Pavilion embarked on a hands-on Timber frame building experience, envisioning a dynamic and cohesive design within an existing housing setting. Central to the design is a spacious open courtyard, accentuated by a pitched roof that seamlessly integrates with the surroundings. Prioritizing user needs, the project aimed to offer shade, comfortable seating, and communal gathering spaces. Employing traditional Timber framing techniques, the structure utilized reclaimed wood sourced from a historic toy factory in Winchendon, Massachusetts, infusing a touch of heritage into this thoughtful and sustainable architectural endeavor

This venue will embody the collective spirit of the colleges, providing a neutral ground for students, faculty, and staff to coverge and celebrate academic achievements. The venue’s open and inviting design with a library, semi open plaza, exhibition and event space will impact the community around and highlight it’s unique contribution to the Colleges of the Fenway.

A center for bridging nature and community, is a proposal that seamlessly integrates landscape and community through the creation of a vibrant community center for the Shattuck community residents. The project envisions a harmonious coexistence between human activity and the existing natural landscape, achieved by designing elevated meandering pathways that gracefully wind around mature trees, creating a dynamic and interactive environment. The community center is envisioned as a hub for social interaction, learning, and cultural exchange. By bridging the gap between urban development and natural landscapes,this project aims to enhance the quality of life for Shattuck residents while preserving and celebrating the inherent beauty of the surrounding nature.

Leveraging the historical significance of Eliot Tower and the scientific potential of Blue Hills, the proposed weather observatory aims to become a hub for meteorological study and a source of reliable weather information for the benefit of both the scientific community and the public. The proposed design emphasizes the unique geographical landscape of Blue Hills and Eliot Tower, highlighting how the elevated position and unobstructed views make it an ideal location for a weather observatory with cohesive new observatory reflecting features of the existing and adjacent site consitions.
