AS community keeps ablaze in new normal by Daniel Ramos
The school grapples with “new normal” as another academic year continues and the threats of the pandemic persist. Major school events now rely on information and communication technologies like learning management systems and social media to keep the blaze going.
SSC elections go virtual amid pandemic by Austin Castañeda Aquinians voted for the next student leaders via an online ballot system through their Schoology accounts on Sept. 8.

SciMath Week gears students towards new normal
Synchronous and asynchronous classes are held in the Schoology app. Student activity still thrives in the same platforms as respective clubs and organizations opened their registrations in late August. On the same day, students elected their council leaders through Google Forms, an online polling app and an automated ballot system.
Partylist Talino At Lakas ng Aquinian (TALA) went head to head with the Truthful, Attentive, Magnanimous Aquinians (TAMA) in the Miting de Avance four days earlier. Like the monumental elections, the Miting went virtual as the SSC FB page livestreamed the event.

The Allied Sciences department revived the Science and Math week through the digital platform mid-September. Winners were announced in the Aquinas School official Facebook page a week later. The school also uses digital media to restore any vestige of normalcy. Pre-recorded ceremonies were
livestreamed every Monday before online class starts. The Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary celebration was also streamed live in the school Facebook page. The community celebrated the Living Rosary, a well-honored tradition, through a live video tribute. Continue on page 2

“A sudden [turn] of events halted your precious anticipation of wearing proudly your locally-woven barong and sablay,” directress/principal Sr. Rosalinda Calong said to the graduates. Despite the pandemic, the school continued in recognizing the efforts of its students by premiering video tributes in the official Facebook page. “This new normal will not hinder Aquinas School… from celebrating and recognizing our Aquinian pupils’ successes,” host Ms. Henedina Barotea said in the pre-school moving up ceremony.
