AQUINAS REUNIONS

The class of 1963 held its 60th reunion on April 21st and 22nd of this year in San Bernardino. Of the 63 graduates (all boys in those days), we have valid contact information for 28 guys, of which 17 attended (60%). Additionally, we had 5 wives, one daughter and 3 widows attend our events for a total of 26 attendees. All attendees received a name tag button to wear with an individual photo from the 1963 Summa yearbook Additionally, copies of 6 Falcon Newsletters from 1962 and 1963 were scanned and provided to all.

The Fairfield Inn & Suites of San Bernardino was our Headquarters hotel, and on Friday night many of us joined together to have dinner at BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse for a convivial night of catching up and recalling war stories from 60 years ago.

On Saturday afternoon, Dr. Chris Barrows met all of us at the Performing Arts Center to give us a spirited update on the changes to the school over the past 60 years. Since our class had contributed $100K to the Performing Arts Center and had the Fr. J. Vincent Sullivan plaque installed in the lobby – we all felt a connection to the building. Dr. Barrows then led us on a lively tour of the campus facilities. We were all very impressed with the facilities and the learning technologies now in use; as well as the breadth of student activities and accomplishments. Dr. Barrows even made time to briefly attend our reception / buffet dinner held at the Arrowhead Country Club (ACC).

Our special thanks go to Christine D’Amico, wife of classmate Felix who died in 2015, who was most helpful in coordinating the food and meeting space for our events. The buffet dinner was prepared by Martina Macias of Martina Baja Catering, and all of us agreed it was the best food we’ve had in all of our previous reunions. Fariel and Michael Winn, owners of the ACC were very accommodating for our group and gave us a separate room for the reception and dinner. We are all looking forward to our 65th reunion in 2028.
