GOVS GIVE

“Govs Together” was the theme of the Govs Give 2022, the University’s sixth annual online giving event, recognizing all the things APSU community members can accomplish by working together. From 10 a.m. on April 19 to 7:27 p.m. on April 20, donors gave $497,158 to support APSU Funds of Excellence for academics, athletics and Student Affairs.

SOCIAL MEDIA ENGAGEMENT

Each year, we continue to find new and innovative ways to connect with our audience of alumni, donors, students, faculty, staff and friends. During the 2022 fiscal year, we have enhanced our social media engagement through several new initiatives.

APSU SCHOLARSHIP 5K RUN FOR GOVS SPOTLIGHTS

To promote the 2022 APSU Scholarship Run for Govs, we utilized social media spotlights. Each month leading up to the Oct. 1 event, we highlighted specific areas that can be supported through individual participation in the 5K.

SHAPE Campaign Spotlights

The 2022 Austin Peay State University SHAPE Faculty and Staff Campaign was a giving initiative designed specifically for APSU faculty and staff. We appreciate their efforts to shape our campus community with their time and talent, and through their generous gifts. Programs supported through the SHAPE Campaign include scholarships, research funding, improved facilities and hands-on learning experiences to elevate the Austin Peay experience for students, faculty and staff.

$15 MILLION

27

THE LARGEST GIFT IN UNIVERSITY HISTORY

A historic $15 million gift was pledged in 2022 to the APSU Department of Athletics by Joe and Cathi Maynard. It is the largest single gift in the history of Austin Peay, and it will be used to further the objectives of the “Total Gov Concept” by assisting with upgrades to all athletics facilities, expanding our commitment to student-athlete performance and development and recruiting and retaining coaches and athletics staff. In March 2022, the APSU Board of Trustees approved naming a portion of campus after Joe and Cathi Maynard in honor of their generous contribution. The area where APSU’s NCAA Division I athletic programs are housed will now be known as the Joe and Cathi Maynard Family Athletics Complex. The board also voted to name the football field at Fortera Stadium as the Maynard Family Field.

Named Austin Peay’s 2020 Philanthropists of the Year, Joe and Cathi Maynard have given generously to the University since 2017, including improvements to the baseball field – now named Joe Maynard Field – and the softball park – known as Cathi Maynard Park. Their gifts also have benefited many other areas of the University, including the establishment of the Joe and Cathi Maynard Family Fund of Excellence at Austin Peay. They also have made significant gifts to establish both the Dr. Joe E Maynard, Sr. Education Endowment, the George J. Reed, Sr. Veterans Scholarship Endowment, and the John & Frank Hindsley Veterans Endowment.
