WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE CORONAVIRUS

What is 2019 Novel Coronavirus? The 2019 Novel Coronavirus, or 2019-nCoV, is a new respiratory virus first identified in Wuhan, Hubei Province, China Coronaviruses are a group of viruses that can cause a range of symptoms including a runny nose, cough, sore throat and fever.

Some are mild, such as the common cold, while others are more likely to lead to pneumonia.

SYMPTOMS Symptoms to watch for include fever, cough, shortness of breath, trouble breathing, body aches, sore throat or vomiting and diarrhea. Contact your medical professional if you experience any of these.

PREVENTATIVE MEASURES The #1 most helpful way to avoid infection is by proper handwashing. Scrub with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use an alcohol based sanitizer.

The best way to prevent infection is to avoid being exposed to this virus. However, as a reminder, CDC always recommends everyday preventative actions to help prevent the spread of respiratory viruses, including: •

Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before

eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.

•

If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer. Always wash hands with soap and

water if hands are visibly dirty.

•

Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.

•

Avoid close contact with people who are sick.

•

Stay home when you are sick.

•

Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.

•

Cough or sneeze into your elbow

•

Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular cleaning spray or wipe.

CAN IT SPREAD THOUGH MAIL? It is unlikely to spread through mail, as these types of viruses typically don’t live very long enough on surfaces, so they are unlikely to survive and spread this way.

The Gwinnett Branch came together last week to celebrate the birthday of Alexandra Moreno. Happy Birthday, Alexandra!

ONLINE REVIEWS 2020 has started with a bang regarding our online reputation. In January alone, Automation Personnel Services received 450 reviews on Google and Yelp, 430 of them 4-stars and 5-stars, which is simply amazing! Leading the way during the first month of the year was the Atlanta Branch with 61 reviews, followed by Baytown in second place with 41, and South Nashville with 33!

As a reminder, it is only Google and Yelp reviews that are factored into the President’s Club competition, so make sure you focus on those reviews. Facebook reviews are nice but they only offer Recommended and Non-Recommended reviews so an average score can’t be created. Also, there has been a little confusion on one additional topic. Please do not review any Automation Personnel Services branch, either your own or another branch. While it’s not unethical to review your own business as long as you identify yourself as an employee, we want to focus on associate and client reviews only! No more staff reviews at this time!

The Corporate office came together to celebrate several birthdays earlier this week - Sara Wilcoxen, Spurgeon Grair, and Tad Roose, although Tad was the only one brave enough to jump in the photo!

HEY ABIGAIL, ...

What Do I Do When I Learn of an Associate’s Death?

It’s always a little jarring to hear the news of someone’s passing and the branch should respond appropriately on a personal level. From an operational standpoint, we need to ensure that our systems are updated accordingly.

Update the history notes with the fact the Associate was reported as deceased and document the source of the information – obituary, news report, Associate’s family member, another Associate. Then mark the Associate as Terminated and Inactive. The Associate’s file should then be moved to the shred drawer for five years from the date of notification.

Notify payroll if pay is pending. If the Associate has a debit card, the payment will push through to the card and the heirs will need to use the proper legal processes to access the funds. If the Associate is due a live check, that check should be issued to the “Estate of” Associate and the heirs will need to use proper legal processes to access those funds.
