Thesafetyofwomenandgirlsisa majorconcernformanyofus. ThetragicdeathsofSarahEverard, SabinaNessaandotherwomen serveasareminderthatthisisan urgentpublicsafetyissuethatweall needtoacton.
AsanSIAlicenceholder,ourstaffhave avitalroletoplayandoftenplayavital roleinprotectingmembersofthe publicandassistingthosewhoare vulnerable. Ourtraininginrecognising predatoryandthreateningbehaviour hasenabledustoidentifyandreport predatorybehaviourandpredators.

Wesometimesreceivereportsfrom our24hourControlRoomthatlicence holdershaveprovidedliftshometo drunkorotherwisevulnerablepeople whilstonduty. Theinformation extendsfromgenuinewell-meaning actsofassistancetoallegationsof rapeandsexualassault. Weknowthis
behaviourappliestoasmallnumber oflicenceholders,butitdamagesthe reputationofeveryoneelseinthe industry.
Youhavebeentrainedonthe Standardsofbehaviourwerequire ofanSIAlicenceholder. These includebehavingwithpersonal integrityandunderstanding,aswell asneverabusingyourpositionof authority. TheAPSecurityTeamfromManned Guardinghaveraisedover£1,000forthe RBLI.
Thedaystartedoutdryandovercastbutby theendofthe10Ktheteamweresoakedbut squelchedtheirwaythroughtothefinish line!
Abigthankyougoesouttoallthose volunteerswhohelpedraisemoneywith theirbucketcollectionatArundelstation. Itwasanamazingdayalthoughwewere thoroughlysoakedspiritswerehighandwe werekeptentertainedwithWaltDisney’s elephantsongfromJungleBooksungby OfficerClareHarman!

WeallknowMentalHealth MonthispromotedinMaybut despitecontinuousadvancesin research,training,treatment andawarenessefforts,thereis stillmuchworktobedone.
Manypeoplearenotexposedto mentalhealthissuesuntiltheyare directlyimpactedbya tragedysuchassuicide, lossofsomeoneclose includingpetsand otherlifeimpacts. Although,weas aCompany havemadean effortto promotea morepositive, proactive approachto addressingmental illnessesbytraining andmentoringourown staff,westillhavealottodo.
Manyofuswillbeworkingover Christmas,wewillbeonstandbyorwe willbefieldingcallsfromotherstaff members. OurControllersandMobile Supervisorswillbeworking continuallyovertheChristmasperiod, aswillmanyofourofficersoutinthe field.
Duringtheholidaytimestressis ratchetedupbyanumberoffactors, especiallythemedia bombardmentof happysmilingfacesenjoyingthe festivities.
ManyofuswithinAParetrainedand havetakenqualificationsinmental healthfirstaid,MHFAandNCFE. By connectingwith othersvia FaceTime, phonezoom andother technological meanswecan linkupwith lovedones, friendsand co-workers whowemay notgettosee overthe Christmasperiod.
