Clinton, AR. January 17th, 2017 – The annual Miss Natural State preliminary pageant held Januray 14th, produced another beautiful contestant, Miss Alexis Sanders, to compete for the title of Miss Arkansas this June. Sanders, a senior biology major with an emphasis in pharmacy at the University of Central Arkansas is a native of Conway Arkansas. Alexis was one of ten contestants competing for the title of Miss Natural State in efforts to return to the coveted Miss Arkansas stage and represent the state at the Miss America pageant. Sanders, described her experience as a weekend spent with close friends and family, not an intense competition.
“After being on the Miss Arkansas stage last summer, I knew I had to go back! I picked out three preliminary titles to compete for and got busy! Thankful this time I was not in search of a dress or swimsuit and could really focus on sharpening my interview skills and talent piece.” Alexis is a spring 2014 initiate of the Theta Mu chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha where she serves as the educational enrichment chairmen. Sanders leads the chapter in partnering with high school students in the central Arkansas area to join the sororities trademark program known as ASCEND, a college and life skills program where the students learn valuable lessons in and out of the classroom. “I am so thankful to God for this opportunity to represent the city of Clinton as Miss Natural State 2017 and to fulfill my dream of being Miss Arkansas and going on to represent the state at Miss America! Competing for Miss Arkansas again will be like going back to summer camp and seeing old friends while making new ones who will eventually become family.” Alexis will go on to compete for Miss Arkansas this June in the states capitol, Little Rock.
