Free travel to and from your accommodation At most accommodation providers, you can enjoy free travel to and from your accommodation by public transport (2nd class / Switzerland). This offer applies when you book three or more consecutive nights at the same accommodation provider (hotels, B&Bs, holiday apartments) in the Appenzell region.

Book a hotel, B&B or holiday flat of your choice in the Appenzell region and mention when making your reservation that you wish to travel by public transport.
Please note the terms and conditions summarised in the ‘Frequently Asked Questions’ section at appenzell.ch/grüninsgrüne. These terms and conditions are binding for all travellers.
Order your tickets online or by telephone from Appenzell Tourist Information at least three days before arrival: appenzell.ch/grüninsgrüne Tel. +41 71 788 96 41 A few days before your arrival, you will receive your complimentary public transport tickets from Appenzellerland Tourism. Your accommodation provider will also send you the Appenzeller Holiday Card. You will need this for the final leg of your journey upon arrival. The tickets will be sent to you by email. This allows you to conveniently save the ticket on your smartphone or print it out at home.

APPENZELL HOLIDAY CARD
Adults and children aged six and over who stay for three or more consecutive nights in a hotel, mountain inn, holiday flat or B&B in the Appenzell region are eligible to receive the Appenzell Holiday Card. Ask about the Appenzell Holiday Card when you make your booking!
The best visitor card in Switzerland
GENERAL The Appenzell Holiday Card is only valid when accompanied by a photo ID. The card and photo ID must be presented at the ticket counter or to staff upon request before use. The card is issued for bookings of three nights or more. The card is not available for purchase. Accommodation providers may not charge for the Appenzell Holiday Card on top of the room rate. It is included in the room rate. The card is valid for a maximum of seven nights.

Guests staying for more than seven nights will receive an additional Appenzell Holiday Card free of charge from their accommodation provider.
PUBLIC TRANSPORT The ticket is valid in 2nd class on public transport. The ticket cannot be used in conjunction with other concessions (e.g. a child’s accompanying ticket). The PubliCar is included in the Tarifverbund Ostwind. The surcharge of CHF 5 per person per journey must be paid in all cases. This can be paid on board the vehicle or via the app. No refunds will be given for tickets already purchased or for cable cars not used due to suspension of services. The Appenzell Holiday Card is not valid for extra cable car or train journeys.
The person responsible is liable for any damage caused to facilities or bicycles. The opening hours of service providers must be noted and respected.
Not all services are always available. In the event of a system failure, during maintenance or similar, there is no entitlement to compensation.
VARIOUS Climbing shoes can be hired at «chletterai» for CHF 5. Bouldering is possible if you bring your own indoor shoes. Court use at the Appenzell indoor tennis centre is valid for one person (not per court). Playing partners must also present the Appenzell Holiday Card or pay their share (bookings required on +41 71 788 96 41). Racket hire available from Sport Baumann, Appenzell. We recommend booking your bike hire in advance. Hired bikes can be taken on public transport under the usual conditions (not free of charge). The Heiden church tower is open from 12.30 pm to 3.30 pm in fine weather. For information in case of uncertain weather, please contact Tourist Information Heiden, tel. +41 71 898 33 01.
