£1 MILLION EARLY YEARS SPORTS FUND TO ASSIST NURSERIES! Super Star Sport UK has created a £1 Million budget to provide free early years sports sessions to nurseries. This budget has been created by the UK Government following on from COVID-19 and the effects that it may have had on children that have been unable to exercise thoroughly. When nurseries are accepted by the early years sports fund, the setting will then be able to provide their children with the experience of fun and engaging sports and activity class that hits many elements of the early years guidelines and will support their development physically, emotionally and socially. Children and young people who were physically active fell during the 2019/20 academic year in England, as first storms in early 2020 and then the COVID-19 pandemic restricted the type of activities available therefore we can only see this number drop even further after the second lockdown in the UK. We have seen many initiatives since the 2 lockdowns from the NHS actively promoting children and parents alike to get out and exercise for at least an hour a day. Online
personalities such as Joe Wicks have promoted the health and well being of children and young people by uploading videos onto Youtube for children to participate in and exercise in their own home, but this is the first time the Government have created a budget specifically centred around exercise for young people in nurseries.
