FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — Forsyth County residents will soon have more options for working out close to home as two new gyms prepare to open. At an Aug. 20 meeting, the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners greenlit plans for a Life Time Fitness location at Georgia 9 and Post Road and a Snap Fitness location at 1485 Peachtree Parkway. The Life Time location will feature a 49,533-square-foot outdoor recreation area, a 100,000-square-foot indoor gym and 619 parking spaces on 16.977 acres. The 24-hour Snap Fitness branch will have a 5,386-square-foot indoor gym and 32 parking spaces on 5.27 acres.

From 6:30 to 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18, at Fowler Park in Cumming, residents are invited to bring their dogs to show off their best outfits and costumes. Registration fees are $15 per dog, but the show is free to attend. Proceeds will benefit the two pet advo-

so many adoptable pets out there. I wanted to showcase those dogs from those shelters.” Many dogs, particularly older ones, remain at the shelter while puppies are adopted quickly. That realization motivated her to become an advocate for adoptable pets. “They don’t have a voice,” she said. “We are the ones who speak for them.”
