Today, you will see him cruising around in his old truck with his vintage barber chair strapped on the back, attending local events and having people hop up on the truck for haircuts. Our CEO/Founder Luke Christian decided to open a restaurant bringing together fresh ingredients with the Southern hospitality of his youth and in a small space in Douglas, GA in 2007, Surcheros was born. The restaurant quickly became a community favorite, a place where they remembered your order and your name. The menu offerings meets guests needs for both customization and fresh ingredients. We don’t have freezers and make everything fresh daily. Start with freshly grilled premium proteins and then choose how you like it- rolled and grilled in our signature burrito, in a bowl, or how about a quesadilla, nachos, tacos, or a salad. Build out your entrée with our over 25 fresh toppings and signature sauces. Whichever item you choose, we will gladly serve you in restaurant, pack it to-go or deliver it straight to you. In May of 2022, our flagship restaurant opened here in Downtown Alpharetta at 91 S. Main Street. This bustling location features a two story patio, televisions, and live music
events. It has also been a rewarding and enjoyable experience to get involved with several organizations in the area, we love to see our in restaurant guests out in the local community. We currently operate a total of 26 locations and counting and look forward to future growth throughout the Southeast. Chattahoochee Nature Center (CNC) is a private, non-profit 501(c) (3) organization supported by our members and community at large (like you!), making it possible for us to bring you environmental education programs that are unsurpassed in Georgia. CNC’s mission is to connect people with nature. For almost 50 years, CNC has inspired both naturalists and citizens to build one of the most unique places on the
Chattahoochee River. Founded by local citizen activists in the mid-1970s, CNC has been nurtured by hundreds of people who have worked to build a strong grassroots environmental learning center, touching the lives of more than 130,000 children and adults each year. In metro Atlanta, no other place offers our community the opportunity to connect to such a broad circle of activities and experiences in the natural world: the land, water, wildlife, plants, educators, knowledge, and passion, which we share freely with all visitors. Chattahoochee Nature Center is a unique place where people connect to each other and the land through a shared respect for nature. Through that interaction with nature, we excite our senses and encourage learning.

BROUGHT TO YOU BY – ALPHARETTA AMBUSH SOCCER CLUB Alpharetta Ambush Soccer Club is located at Webb Bridge Park, 4780 Webb Bridge Rd., Alpharetta and has been serving the community for more than 24 years. We are grateful for the thousands of players and families who have made this possible. When we opened our Club in Alpharetta in 1999, there were less than 75 players in the club. Currently Ambush has grown to over 1900 players between Select and Rec leagues. Alpharetta Ambush Soccer Club thanks you sincerely as you have entrusted us to coach, train, and mentor the youth soccer players in our area. We thank you for voting us “Best Sports Organization in North Atlanta” and we will continue to work to earn your vote and trust. Over the years we have been fortunate to maintain a group of terrific staff members. Board Members, Head Coaches, Asst. Coaches, Team Managers, and Key Parents who volunteer endless
hours, all make up one of the best staffs in youth sports. Tremendous support is also provided by the City of Alpharetta Recreation Parks and Cultural Services. This entire group of dedicated individuals help create the backbone of our club and make participation at Ambush Soccer Club a positive and rewarding experience. We thank our Ambush staff and everyone at ARPCS who contributed greatly to this incredible award. We now continue into the future with
great diligence providing a critical support service for the youth of North Atlanta and more specifically Alpharetta, Johns Creek, and Milton. Our goal is to continue serving our community for many years to come. We will strive to offer the best in youth soccer and continue to offer a safe and healthy environment for our players to grow on and off the field. We have soccer opportunities for youth players 5 to 18 years of age on a year-round

In years past, I have sat down with Dr. Taylor to learn a bit more about him as a dermatologist and a Mohs surgeon. This year, with his office finishing construction, we gathered to discuss the changes Premier Dermatology has undergone and the gratitude he has for his patients. Alyssa: Hey Dr. Taylor. Wow there’s a lot going on here. It looks the same but different. I heard you had a flood? What happened and what has happened since? Dr. Taylor: Yes, we did! Well, it was Christmas Eve at 6:30pm. My family (including myself) were all in Christmas pajamas. I was picking up our traditional to go Chinese food when my wife called and said that the police had called to inform her that the motion sensors were going off in the practice. My wife and I jumped into the car, still in our Christmas pajamas and headed to the practice with police on the way. When we entered the parking lot, water was rushing out from the front doors of the bottom floor of our building. Two firemen met us at the front door and said “It’s bad.” As it turns out, all of the prepping for the cold snap that we did in our floor of the building did not prevent the sprinkler line from rupturing in the attic. The flood was extensive. Roughly 75% of our practice was damaged, leaving us to rip out and rebuild! It’s been a long, slow process, partially because so many houses and buildings experienced floods that there was a wait list for insurance claims and for every step of the demolition and reconstruction process. The Christmas Eve cold snap last year really hit us hard. Alyssa: Well, it looks beautiful again. It must be such a relief to be back in an attractive and functional space. How has working during this time been? Dr. Taylor: Honestly, it’s been fine. Not ideal but fine. My staff is amazing. Truly! They never
complained. We kept everyone’s hours and we just made do with the one section of the practice that was still usable. Thank goodness my Mohs laboratory and five patient exam rooms were undamaged, so we were still able to take great care of patients. Also, my patients are truly the best! They were all so genuinely concerned for us and understanding of our situation. We live in an area where great care is abundant, and people have options in who they see for healthcare. I am so fortunate to treat kind patients

who gave us grace during the flood and its aftermath. Alyssa: Do you have anything else you want to add? Dr. Taylor: Just something that I want to reiterate. Celebrating the man behind the practice SHARING PART OF THE STORY THAT SHAPED OUR WONDERFUL SURGEON BROUGHT TO YOU BY – ROBINSON FACIAL PLASTIC SURGERY
“I
truly love my job,” proclaims Dr. Burke Robinson, FACS. “I wake up in the morning excited to come to work. I have the ability to help people change their lives and that’s how I always have seen my role. Whether it is correcting a child’s protruding ears to resolve the bullying, to improving the overly distracting nose of the shy overlooked teenager, to the reconstruction of the grandparent ravaged by an aggressive skin cancer. Over and over, I have seen how physical self-image really impacts a sense of self-worth and personal confidence. It can be frustrating and difficult if your external appearance doesn’t necessarily match who you feel you are on the inside. When I help patients overcome that frustration, they are no longer focused on imperfections.” Dr. Robinson learned the impact of that type of frustration early in his life. He watched his mother, who was diagnosed with MS when Dr. Robinson was barely in preschool, struggle to overcome the limitations of her body. She remained upbeat and determined, despite the difficulty of raising her three children while the disease ravaged her system. Later, when Dr. Robinson reached his teen years, his father suffered a neck injury that would render him disabled. As the oldest child, Dr. Robinson became the caretaker - helping out with younger siblings, running errands, and taking his parents to all their medical appointments. “Yes, I guess I was the Uber of ‘74,” he quips. “I shuttled them back and forth, so I was regularly on the patient-side of things when I was growing up... the worry, the confusion, keeping up with medications, I understand 38 | 2023 Best of North Atlanta Winners Guide
all of that very well.” With both parents at limited capacity, financial strains in the home tightened severely. Dr. Robinson stepped in as much as possible to assist with bills and expenses. “For a while, neither one of my parents could work. It was tough, particularly at that age, “he recalls. “I got a job after school as the janitor... basically, I’d go to school all day, and then start cleaning up after my friends. Not fun, but it had to be done.” Even with that pressure, he achieved an academic level that qualified him for scholarship funding at The University of Arizona. Off at school, Dr. Robinson continued to work and save in order to send money home. “Once, when I took the Greyhound bus home for Thanksgiving break, and my mom met me at the station,” remembers Dr. Robinson, “then went by the grocery store to do some shopping. As she checked out, I noticed her trying to hide from me that she was using food stamps.” His extracurricular jobs provided valuable experience that leave an indelible impressions for his future approach as a physician. “I’ve been an orderly cleaning bedpans and administering enemas; I’ve been an ER clerk typing forms and balancing triage,” avows Dr. Robinson. “Everyone on staff deserves to be treated with the utmost respect. It’s a team effort. The people around you contribute to your success.” The work ethic instilled in him was too strong for anything to set him back. “Both of my parents stayed positive. Seriously, my dad should be a motivational speaker,” Dr. Robinson asserts. “Education’s a big focus for our family and I took that seriously. I still do for my kids.” Academic excellence in college led to medical school and opportunities from there consistently propelled him forward on his path. Every time an insurmountable hurdle would present itself, something would turn up to lift him over the road block and set him back in motion. From the sudden donation of the car he needed to complete his clinical rotations in med school to a last-minute change presenting an incredible residency opportunity to the perfect match for his fellowship
linking him with a physician who’d become a lifelong friend and mentor, Dr. Robinson credits faith. “I see God’s hand in all of it. All of it. No doubt.” In 1995, Dr. Robinson was scouted by huge Atlanta ENT practice of over 40 surgeons and moved here to join their team as their facial plastic surgeon. The medical group continued to grow, perhaps too quickly, and eventually folded in 2001. That’s when he decided to branch out on his own into private practice. “I took a gamble but I knew it was right for me. From the day I established this practice, I’ve wanted the primary focus to be client relationships and a family-friendly atmosphere for my team. In fact, I consider the staff to be a family. Family means more than anything else. When my kids were growing up, I’d coordinate their calendars with mine and managed to only miss five of their events in all those years. In my eyes, my children are definitely my greatest pride over any award I’ve ever won.” That perspective balances every part of the business. Dr. Robinson’s steadfast resolution to uphold a beneficial quality of life translates into low staff turnover, and staunch loyalty from employees and patients alike. He sees everyone as an integral part of the overall system, and values his opportunity to serve others as part of his career. “I’m an empathetic person,” he admits, “and [in medicine] if you’re not compassionate, what are you doing in this profession? These are big changes in their life and I do get choked up when patients are overwhelmed by their results. It’s the ultimate satisfaction to give that kind of joy to someone’s life. You know, a few years after this practice had become successful, my mother, who I lost last year, sent me a prayer. I keep it on my desk at the office. Part of it says ‘Oh, Thou kind and gracious Father, grant me an ever grateful heart...Teach me, O God, to be rich in good works, always ready to come to the aid of my brethren, ever willing to communicate according to my ability...’ and as I read the verse each day, I feel centered in this purpose.

1. Light wood finishes Timeless and characterdriven, hardwood floors represent a perennial favorite due to their natural appeal. Light wood finishes are experiencing a surge in popularity, with blonde finishes (think pale pine and bleached oak) at the forefront of interior design trends. Versatile and poised to withstand the test of time, they allow rooms to feel more open and inviting.
