National Charity League supports Operation Homefront of Georgia MILTON, Ga. â As a thank you to expectant active-duty soldiers and military wives, the Milton chapter of National Charity League, Inc. recently hosted a âStar-Spangledâ baby shower. The shower was held Sunday, Aug. 14 during their annual Round Up event in support of NCLâs national philanthropy initiative. Over one hundred and fifty teenage girls and their mothers filled tables at a local church with much-needed baby items, from diapers and pacifiers to receiving blankets. There were enough gifts for a platoonâs worth of moms-tobe.
This event focused on Operation Homefront of Georgia and kicked off a year of philanthropic volunteering with the chapterâs thirteen local partner organizations. âOur chapter is proud to support Operation Homefront and the many military families that will receive our baby gifts,â said chapter President Shelley Kench. âNCL, Inc.âs annual national philanthropy initiative gives us the opportunity to contribute to something much broader than our local community, and collectively, with the other 220 chapters across the USA, send a loud âThank Youâ to our active troops
and veterans who keep our country safe.â Military parents often live far from extended families and are in need of a support system. The mission of Operation Homefront of Georgia is to be that extended support for those stationed in Georgia by providing financial assistance to military families. These events are a chance to give back to military families, whose earnings can be low. They often endure hardships civilian families do not have to face, according to Operation Homefront.
